Jamaican singer Shenseea is ready to take things worldwide, kicking things off by recently signing with The Weeknd’s manager, releasing a new song (Run Run produced by Di Genius), and delivering an electric and memorable performance at this year’s Rolling Loud festival in Miami: notably one of the largest stages in hip hop and mainstream music.

Shenseea took a moment at the festival, over the weekend, to big up one of her idols Rihanna, when asked by Florida radio station 99JAMZ about the artist she would like to work with.

She enthusiastically expressed her interest in a collaboration with the Barbadian pop superstar and said playfully, “Tell her to get off her break man.”

The Dancehall star has been vocal in the past about her desires to collaborate with Rihanna. In addition to showing love to Rihanna’s music in ELLE’s Song Association, RiRi has also been seen on Instagram singing along to Shenseea’s BlessedIn January of 2020, She revealed her excitement with The Guardian. “I grew up listening to Rihanna 24/7,” she screamed. “And now she’s listening to me.”

Earlier this year, Shenseea hailed Rihanna as a major influence in carving out a path for herself.  She told E! News that as a child she had wished to “be the next Rihanna” but as time went by, she realized that who she wanted to be instead was the best version of herself.

“Rihanna is an inspiration, she’s one of my favourite artists but I try to give that advice to people who say they want to be like Shenseea. I say, ‘no, try to be the best version of yourself’,” she explained.

Shenseea was also chosen as a Savage x FENTY Ambassador last year, so the link is already set.  The two just need to make it studio official as soon as Rihanna makes her official return to music.

Rihanna’s last album, ANTI has spent five years on the Billboard 200 charts, the first album by a black female artist to reach this milestone in the chart’s history.   The Man Down singer’s next album, which she has said would be Reggae-inspired, has been unofficially dubbed R9 since it would be her ninth studio project.

According to HITC, Rihanna was spotted at the Rolling Loud festival on Saturday, as she supported her boyfriend ASAP Rocky who was billed as a performer.
