Dancehall starlet Shenseea announced today that she has a new manager, Lebanese-Canadian industry executive Wassim ‘Sal’ Slaiby.

Sal co-founded the XO Record label with The Weeknd, who he also co-manages as XO’s primary artist.   The 41-year-old is also founder and CEO of SAL&CO (Salxco Management Firm)  — the home to an elite roster of other top artists such as Doja Cat, Ty Dolla $ign, M.I.A., Brandy, Bebe Rexha, French Montana, and many more.

The big news was confirmed today on Instagram, where the Blessed singer updated her more than 4 million ShengYengz about the move, which appears to have taken place earlier this year.

“Allow me to introduce my new manager @salxo 😃,” Shenseea wrote. “I’m Happy to have one with such dynamic character on my team! We’re about to unfold a new chapter! More hard work, more determination but with the same God 🙏🏽 LET’s GO XO! 🗣🔥🐉.”

Shenseea’s career seems to be in pretty good hands given the commercial success of many of the artists handled by Salxco, which has a partnership with Live Nation Entertainment and also manages producers Metro Boomin, London on Da Track, and DaHeala.

Slaiby, who Variety Magazine named 2020’s Manager of the Year, described Salxco as a rainbow coalition of personalities and nationalities.

“This company is built on diversity, and that’s another reason why we’re successful,” he told Variety. “We want to be an inspiration to immigrants and the Black community and people who come from nothing. That’s what I have in common with a lot of my clients, and the next step for us is to take those voices and elevate them — and keep impacting the culture.”

The Weeknd, the most successful artist in the coalition, earned 2020’s biggest Billboard debut with his fourth No. 1 album, After Hours.  His 7x platinum song Blinding Lights was the world’s best performing single of the year across all digital platforms.

According to the Canadian singer, who Slaiby has been managing since the inception of his career, he is one of the most honest and determined in the business.

“One thing I love about Sal is his honesty,” The Weeknd said during an interview earlier this year. “The problem with a lot of managers is they think they know everything. If Sal doesn’t know something, he’ll say so and find a way to learn. Plus, he’s very family-oriented and I’m like that, and I trust him like a family member. We actually knew each other when I was with someone else’s management and wasn’t in a great position. I think he sensed that, and we’ve been inseparable ever since. We learn from each other; it’s a real partnership.”

Even U.K. artist Stefflon Don came in with high praises for the music manager. “One of the best managers in the world! 🙌🏾” she wrote on Shenseea’s announcement on IG.

Romeich Major

As the Dancehall singer ‘unfolds a new chapter’, it’s unclear what the move means for Romeich Major, Shenseea’s first manager and longtime partner-in-crime.

The Romeich Entertainment CEO, who recently parted ways with another of his leading acts TeeJay, has yet to comment or reveal any further details surrounding the new arrangement with Shenseea.
