From the moment she arrived on stage, it was clear Shenseea came to give RollingLoud’s Florida crowd a taste of the islands. The Dancehall starlet served up brand Jamaica from start to finish in her half-hour set, with high energy antics to wow the masses at the annual hip hop festival. With headliners such as Travis Scott, Post Malone, plus Meg Thee Stallion and more, Shenseea pulled out all the stops to make her international stage debut a memorable spectacle out of the many scorching acts.

Her entrance alone fired up the comments on social media overnight, and is sure to land on yearly roundups of 2021’s top moments in entertainment.

“Who wants some real Jamaican jerk chicken?” Shenseea’s hypeman asked, as Romeich Major rolled out a jerk pan covered in Jamaican flags, while wearing a chef’s hat and apron. When he lifted the lid, the Blessed songstress emerged from inside, clad in a black, gold and green crop top and shorts with fishnets.

The creative move hyped up the crowd as planned, and Shenseea got right into it with the ShenYeng Anthem, preparing patrons for some more Jamaican flavour.

The XO signee followed up with Trending Gyal before yet another careful move, switching lanes into familiar hip hop territory for the audience with her (June Bug Challenge) Snitch Freestyle over SPOTEMGOTTEM’s Beatbox 2.

Up next was Hard Drive which saw a stage show first; Shenseea following her own raunchy instructions on the chorus. She then brought out DHQ Famous Red for a few minutes of fluffy girl antics, before giving the crowd some more familiar tunes in a dance breakdown featuring Rihanna’s Work and Sean Paul’s Get Busy.

Turning up the island flair, Shenseea brought out Ding Dong, who gave a rousing dancefloor display in his Prada fit bearing the Jamaican flag colours. Powerful crooner Tarrus Riley also graced the stage to perform his and Shenseea’s 2020 hit Lighter, casual as usual in his black, green and gold.

Shenseea closed her set with her new single Run Run, currently entering its second week at No. 1 in Jamaica, according to YouTube Charts, with close to 3M views.

With the viral effect of her jerk pan entrance and only minor technical glitches throughout, Shenseea made a bracing debut before what was arguably her toughest crowd yet. It was one of few times in her stellar five-year rise that she wasn’t the major crowd-puller, and Shen admitted to being “a bit nervous” a day before the show. Despite the sometimes stiff crowd, she kept the vibes and engagement high, and as with every other aspect of her artistry, we’ll no doubt see improvement as her confidence and catalogue grows.

Meanwhile, the moment is already generating heated debates, memes and skits, and once again, the Trending Gyal is the hottest topic for a second consecutive weekend. Shenseea is also being praised for her big league stage debut, with former manager Romeich Major among the first to congratulate her on Instagram.

“Right now me no business with weh a soul want say me is jamaica number one worker and Jerkman right now @shenseea @rollingloud was a experience and a start of greatness not only for the team but for jamaica we represent we country and music everywhere we go so show respect!!!! #oneteamonedream PROUD OF MY TEAM!!!!”, he wrote on Instagram.
