One Day producer Seanizzle appears to have shrugged off Khago’s lawsuit threats, turning to ‘The Almighty’ for guidance instead, and launching a competition aimed at giving young artists an opportunity to have their songs produced by him, on his new Born Fi This riddim.

After having archived his older posts, Seanizzle last week posted a clip of the music video for his hit song One Day which was voiced on the riddim of the name, and urged his followers to “never give up”, stay focused on their dreams “and most of all never stop praying to the most High God in all your endeavors”.

On Friday, days later, the producer announced a five-day-long competition for budding and established artists to record themselves doing a freestyle/song on the Born Fi This riddim, as well as upload to Instagram and tag him.

“You have until 8pm Tuesday, April 6, 2021 to submit your song.  The best 3 songs will be produced and officially release by me Seanizzle.  Let’s get creative and have fun let’s go!!!!!!!!” the Rasta Party producer instructed.

Up to the close of the competition on Tuesday night, Seanizzle had received 46 entries in the competition, many of which, at the outset, were laced with gun lyrics, expletives, and sexually explicit content.

This resulted in the Rum and Red Bull producer stepping in to politely ask the entrants to step up their game and submit entries that he will be able to “take to radio stations” with confidence.

The Pembroke Hall High School old boy also impressed upon them that what he is looking for are “three hit songs”, and not just mere attempts at rhyming.

“PSA!!!!!!!!   The Game Can Step Up some more.   I don’t want just rhymes alone.  I want to hear Hit songs!!!!  This no Joke fam!   Sing like you born fi this after all this is the #born4thisriddim challenge let’s go!!!!!” he noted under a video post.

Seanizzle, whose given name is Sean Reid, is most known for his One Day Riddim on his Seanizzle Records label, which yielded several cross-over hits and cemented his national status as a formidable producer.

All tracks on the riddim were hits nationally, including Beenie Man’s I’m OK; Nah Sell Out by Khago; Rum and Red Bull by Beenie Man and Future Fambo; Don’t Tell Nuhbody by Twins of Twins, Wifey Walk Out by Liquid, and Seanizzle’ own motivational One Day track.   Swaggariffic, a track by Seanizzle’s mentor Mr. G was even adapted by South American telecommunications giant, America Movil (Claro) as a jingle for its Jamaican market, providing even more radio airtime for the bouncy and memorable riddim.

Seanizzle emerged in 2005 with the Reverse riddim which featured Beenie Man’s Reverse The Ting and Tony Matterhorn’s Sidung Pon It.  He established Seanizzle records in 2006.

He has also done copious amounts of work with I-Octane and was the producer of the artist’s Gal A Gimmi Bun, Hustlers Anthem, and Suh Good.

The producer has, in the past, credited his success to the lessons taught by his mentor Mr. G whom he said taught him “a lot about the business”.

“He didn’t make it easy for me. He offered me some constructive criticism. He would tell me when the project was a total flop, and that meant a lot to me because it meant. He had my best interest at heart. It meant that when I did get it right, the riddim would be a hit and I would be a success,” Seanizzle told The Star in an interview a few years ago.
