As Dancehall continues to engage the African continent, veteran deejay Busy Signal has received a very big shout-out from a well-known politician in Kenya.

The East African country’s opposition leader, Raila Odinga, posted on Twitter recently that he woke up to Busy Signal’s hit, Reggae Music Again, which set the tone for his day. One in which he extended peace and love to his 2.9 million followers.

“I woke up to Busy Signal’s- REGGAE MUSIC AGAIN HIT.. “Peace and love for every day” What are you listening to?” Odingaasked on Twitter on February 24. His followers were also very happy with his choice of music.

The message sent a buzz through the Twitterverse in Kenya and soon Busy Signal picked up on it and publicly thanked the leader for appreciating his music. He didn’t say anything but posted two raised hands, a gorilla, and a raised fist.

The politician sent the original tweet following a celebration after the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) bill in Kenya. It’s one that he’s campaigned extensively alongside President Uhuru Kenyatta for.

Odinga seems to have a true affection for Reggae and Dancehall as according to Nairobi News he consistently used the Nobody Can Stop Reggae song during the lead-up to the BBI bill passing. The track is by the late South African Dancehall artist, Lucky Dube, and was used to help raise awareness of the BBI project.

While they were drumming up support they used many reggae songs to campaign. Odinga compared the BBI to Reggae music which he said nobody can stop.

Busy Singal is expected to drop a collaborative effort with Sean Paul called Boom, next Thursday, March 4. The Sweet Love singer has an affinity for Africa, where he has a massive fanbase.  He has been quoted as calling Zimbabwe his second home.
