Umbrella singer and business mogul Rihanna celebrated her 33rd birthday last Saturday. While the Fenty Beauty boss didn’t share her birthday celebrations with fans this year, there was an incredible outpour of celebrity love for the star from the likes of Cardi B, Beyonce, and Mariah Carey.

Among those offering birthday wishes were Dancehall artist and Love and Hip Hop  Atlanta star, Spice who also showed love for the pop star with an Instagram post captioned, “Happy birthday good body @badgalriri big up yuh nice clean self wid rich pocket, yuh clean mouth and yuh good stomach. Love you mi gal, gwaan inspire us. Caribbean gyal run this ask Riri.”

For fans, the Navy leader’s absence on her birthday was felt. Some took to Instagram sharing a 3-year-old video of the singer enjoying the smooth melodies of Beres Hammond with friends to celebrate the singer’s birthday.

In the video, the Diamond singer was seen happily belting out the lyrics to some of the 65-year-old Hammond’s greatest lover’s rock hits. She sang along to I Wish, No Disturb Sign, and Can’t Stop A Man.

And Rihanna is no stranger to Dancehall & reggae music. The star often shows her love and appreciation of the genre. Just a few weeks ago the Battleship actress posted a tribute to her birth month mate and Reggae legend Bob Marley on her Instagram page for the anniversary of his birth.

Jamaican Twitter has even dubbed her an honorary Jamaican and has welcomed her into the fold.

The Barbadian singer has a number of songs influenced by Dancehall & Reggae in her repertoire. Her 2011 single Man Down was filmed in Portland, Jamaica and most recently Rihanna gave everyone full Dancehall party vibes with her Work single released in 2016 featuring Canadian rapper, Drake.

A few days before her birthday, the billion-dollar businesswoman took to her Instagram again with a photo of herself bejeweled, topless, and wearing lilac shorts from her Savage X Fenty lingerie line captioning the photo with lyrics from Popcaan’s song, Naked, the sixth song on the Unruly deejay’s second studio album, Forever released in 2018.

She quoted a most fitting lyric saying, “When @popcaanmusic said “me nuh wan ya wear no lingerie tonight fa me girl,” for her 92.2 million Instagram followers.

Rihanna’s love for Reggae and Dancehall has led her to create a Reggae-inspired album that fans eagerly await.  But, there’s still no word on the official release date for what would be her ninth studio album, dubbed R9 by fans.

While fans await R9, Rihanna continues to build her brand and influence in her other areas of business.
