Barbadian born, international R&B singer Rihanna has sent fans in a frenzy online with her latest Instagram and Twitter share today.  To top it off, she drew a little inspiration from Dancehall’s very own, Popcaan, for her caption.

The nine-time Grammy Award winner, who is currently dating rapper A$AP Rocky, posted a risqué topless photo of herself while wearing purple silk tap shorts from her Savage X Fenty line. It seems the singer, who turns 33 in five days is already getting into birthday mode. She was also dripping in amethyst jadeite jewels made of her birthstone.

“When @popcaanmusic said “me nuh wan ya wear no lingerie tonight fa me girl,” she wrote quoting lyrics from Popcaan’s 2018 single, Naked off his Forever album.

Within a matter of minutes, Rihanna’s photo went viral, accumulating over 2.4 million Likes in under 30 minutes since she posted on Instagram. It bumped up to 3 million in 40 minutes and is currently sitting on more than 6.5 million views after just 3 hours.

“This is called cultural capital. No other industry but the entertainment or sports industries can bring this much acclaim and attention to Jamaica and Jamaican culture. All industries benefit. 3 million likes in forty minutes,” tweeted Donovan Watkis of the World Music Views podcast.

The stats were also recorded by several other sources, including a few from Rihanna’s team.

The international superstar has certainly given Popcaan on buzz on this one, but we’re yet to see a response from the Dancehall artist.  Popcaan, whose daughter is also named Rihanna, recently released his Gyalentine EP to mark Valentine’s Day.

As for her upcoming music, Rihanna’s long-awaited ninth album, R9 is on its way, she recently told fans it may appear sooner than (they) think. The Fenty Beauty queen also confirmed that the album will indeed be “reggae-inspired” and confessed that the genre “always feels right” to her.

“I like to look at it as a reggae-inspired or reggae-infused album,” she explained. “It’s not gonna be typical of what you know as reggae. But you’re going to feel the elements in all of the tracks.”

“Reggae always feels right to me. It’s in my blood. It doesn’t matter how far or long removed I am from that culture or my environment that I grew up in; it never leaves.”

Early last year she also confirmed that she’s working with American music producer Pharrell Williams of The Neptunes for the new album and according to several sources, the record may also be influenced by Jamaican-born producer Supa Dups who has worked with the likes of Beenie Man, Sean Paul, and Elephant Man.
