Dancehall artist Rytikal made his first court appearance via Zoom today in the Gun Court and was remanded.

His lawyer, Abel Don Foote, will make a bail application on the singer’s behalf on March 4, according to the Jamaica STAR.

Rytikal, whose real name is Ryan McFarlane, was arrested on January 28 and later charged after cops on patrol in the 8 Miles, Bull Bay community observed him acting in a manner that they say aroused their suspicion.

The 25-year-old was questioned, his car searched and a Taurus .380 pistol with 12 rounds of ammunition found.

A source told DancehallMag that “the gun was in the car, Rytikal was doing video shoots at the time, and a whole heap of people forward inna the car during that time, so he will be pleading innocent to the charges.”

When the gun was discovered, Rytikal reportedly told the cops that it was a prop for the music video.

The rising star is best known for being a part of the Eastsyde Records camp with Skillibeng, and has released hit songs such Cookie Jar and King Inna War.

He is the fourth Dancehall deejay to be charged with illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition in the last four months.

Laden was sentenced to four years imprisonment on an illegal possession of firearm charge, while Tommy Lee Sparta is currently on remand for his illegal possession of firearm charge. Another deejay, Shokryme pleaded guilty to a gun rap and is currently hoping for a non-custodial sentence.

Meanwhile, Quada and Munga Honorable are both free pending their murder trials.
