Tarrus Riley hopped on the viral TikTok Corvette Corvette Challenge, trading out the twitchy dance moves for some slick bars on his So Blessed (XTM Remix).

Joining fellow Jamaican artists like Shenseea [#JunebugChallenge] and Skillibeng [#SilhouetteChallenge] in tapping the power of the app for promotion, Singy Singy delivered an agile verse on the track produced by Xterminator Productions.

The new visuals from the Reggae singer show the ‘lyrical Taurus’ being his usual unapologetically stylish self, and features a cameo from Runkus, with production credits to ShotbyDeth.

Riley spends just over one-minute sassing haters and critics who’ve called out everything from the musician’s tattoos to his repertoire. After the release of last year’s smash hit Lighter, the contemporary reggae singer was lampooned for both his looks and lyrics as many felt they were too taboo for a renowned Rasta artist.  Much like the criticism now dogging reggae crooner Fantan Mojah, Riley was blasted for shedding his strict roots-rock cadence for ‘rude boy’ swag and marketability.

A viral comment on his ‘switch up’ at the time read, “Tarrus Riley look like him move from She’s Royal to Gyal Bring the P—y Come. Man fully fashion out, tatted and loc’d in bredda… coming like Elli Goulding touch the dawg with the energy.”

In his rather unbothered response, Riley said, “Well…Can I live… naw sey nuttn mi Jus a Seh,” with many laughing emojis to make his point.

But the eclectic emcee earned his Fresh Prince of JA nickname from embracing a variety of styles in his craft and image, even while some questioned his masculinity and commitment to his faith.  After the release of the Style A Style Rididm‘s Ez Nuh earlier this year, Tarrus explained to DancehallMag in an interview, “so if mi say Ez Nuh man, and mi a show style, you fi just know say I have style also.  I think more people could learn more if Rasta get more involved in the conversations.”

“Music go with fashion, Capleton have a way how him deal with fashion, Beenie Man also, and we grow looking up to dem man deh. So how mi fi leave out fashion,” he added.

It’s no wonder he starts off the snarky cut on Pop Hunna’s Adderall instrumental with “Doh vex, doh vex, rasta yute dem step so fresh/ Man a buss a big 45 with the cordless and a read Psalm 45 an we all bless.”

He lets the trolls know “lion nuh listen di barking” and before the bouncy remix is done, he defends his religion, style, and spontaneous vibe.

“Like di singer dem waah mi fi deejay and di dj dem waah mi fi sing/ an di people dem who waah fi dim mi religion dem well wulda waah me fi trim/ Doh like di ink and dem doh like mi bling/ Still hailing di King/ And all who nuh waah mi win/ Yuh fi know bad mind ah sin.”

The So Blessed remix has been met with mostly positive reviews, and just like Lighter months prior, the fans’ only complaint was that there just wasn’t enough.
