It was National Worl’ Boss Day for the Gaza Nation as Vybz Kartel celebrated his 45th birthday, albeit behind bars, on January 7.

Tributes flowed in on his Instagram page from scores of fans, while many of his fellow Dancehall artistes and producers opted to create their own birthday posts to honour the Fever artiste.

There was one birthday greeting of which the soon-to-be grandfather seemed to be extremely proud and that was one from American rapper Nicki Minaj which was made under a tribute posted by UK-based Dancehall artiste, Lisa Mercedez.  The greeting, which Kartel screenshot and reposted on his Instagram page read: “@vybzkartel ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ HBD WORLD BOSS‼️‼️‼️‼️”

Nikki Minaj’s birthday wishes followed Mercedez’ which read: “A king was born today @vybzkartel wishing you long life, prosperity and more blessings pon top a blessings.”

Also hailing the Calabar High School old boy was his former mentor Bounty Killer who posted an old photo of the two together on his Instagram page.

“Blessed earth strong Addi from daddi more life prosperity good health and wealth youth salute @vybzkartel,” Bounty wrote.

Many of Kartel’s other Reggae and Dancehall compatriots flocked to his page to extend their well wishes.  Among them were Jesse Royal, Shane O, music producer Din Din, ZJ Chrome,  his sons Likkle Aaddi and Likkle Vybz,  Jah VinciDre Island, Vershon, the Uptop Boss Teejay as well as producer Seanizzle, who declared for the Gaza Boss “more blessings and prosperity”.

University of the West Indies Senior Lecturer in the Institute of Caribbean Studies Professor Donna P. Hope who known in music circles as the Dancehall Doctor also sent Kartel her best wishes.

“Blessed Earthstrong Vybz Kartel.   More life and more music,” she wrote.

It was Spice though, who appeared to be having a whale of a time celebrating and serenading Kartel. Declaring his birthday Gaza Day, she made four posts dedicated to him of past collabs they had recorded.

“Stop what you’re doing it’s a GAZA DAY. 🛑 So Wish the bl__dclaat King 👑 Happy birthday ‼️ ‼️‼️ . Drop a line #Rompingshop Changed my life 💙 #WorldBossday” she wrote under her first post of the day.

“You hear what I say? It’s a bl__dclaaaaat GAZA DAY ‼️ Happy birthdayyyyy @vybzkartel KING,” she added in a later post.

She continued the raving over on Kartel’s page stating: “Happy Bloodclaat birthday KING”.

A few days ago Kartel, in a double entendre, made a post bearing three photos, declaring the first of which read: “I will be 45 soon”.  The second slide showed a photo of a white-haired black man, and was captioned “not this 45”.  The third was a photo of a .45 pistol and was captioned: “this 45”.

He also used the post to notify what he described as his much-anticipated album series dubbed Dancehall Royalty the first installment of which is to be released this Friday, January 8, the day following his birthday.
