Wrapping up her year of wins, Koffee gifted her fans an acoustic musical experience and virtual Q&A session on the Grubhub Soundbites stage.

The new Malta and Mastercard ambassador is home for the holidays and is one of the latest international acts featured on the virtual concert series. Featuring her band, backup singers and a bevy of hits, Koffee’s quaint living room set went on a full 20 minutes before moving into fan-submitted queries.

Touching on everything from upcoming projects, favorite food to who inspired the smash hit Lockdown, here’s 7 Takeaways from the Grubhub Soundbites Q & A with Koffee

What has been keeping her sane during such an unstable time in the world?

The whirlwind year has brought Koffee many blessings, but she isn’t oblivious to the weight of global tensions. Her newest track Pressure debuted in an atmsphere of health scares and racially-charged protests following George Floyd’s murder, points which she addressed in the song’s lyric video. Koffee’s keys to staying level-headed are “staying close to God, prayer, meditation and music for sure.” In this difficult time, she’s most thankful for “connections with people, definitely family” and her fans.

What’s her main focus in 2021?

“Just straight positivity, definitely a lot more music, visuals with the music, just keeping a good vibe and continuing to connect with people, and inspiring as much as I can. The follow up to her Grammy winning EP Rapture will arrive “very, very, very soon” she says.

Where does she see herself musically in the next 5 years?

Already an acclaimed and decorated artist, Koffee plans to become more musically inclined within the next five years. “Definitely evolution,” she said, “I think I will expand musically. Now I just record on riddims, but in the future, I will be producing more of my own tracks. I play the guitar and I’m learning how to play the piano so I’ll play a bigger role in my production.

What countries does she hope to visit soon?

Where will she go “when di quarantine ting done?” Fans from all over the world sent in questions for the session, and many of them requested the rising star’s presence in their hometown. Among the places she’d like to visit are Angola, Barbados, Tortola and Africa.

What inspires Koffee?

“I think I’m inspired by other artists and definitely music of all genres —not just reggae music or hip hop but different kinds — R & B, soul, blues.”

Does she have any dream collabs?

Koffee’s fans know her too well — she agreed with many of their suggestions/queries on who she should collaborate with sometime in the future. Among them were Skip Marley, Wizkid, SAINt JHN, Tarrus Riley, Popcaan and Burna Boy. Gyptian got special mention from the Grammy kid, who said “Gyptian is a big artist, actually love that artist as well so big up Gyptian, hopefully soon, if him interested.”

Who inspired Lockdown?

Her aptly titled, flirtatious anthem swept the airwaves this summer and has stayed on everyone’s lips since then. The track caught on quickly with its chill yet confident missives, sparking a bit of speculation as to who they were about. When asked the question abruptly, Koffee gave a bright smile and a coy laugh, moving on to the next question without missing a beat. The ambassador, artist and songwriter is as private as she is talented, so the guessing game continues for her fixated fans.
