Unbeknownst to many, British megastar Adele, was in Jamaica only a few weeks ago, where she and American R&B singer H.E.R., coincidentally, happened to meet live in the flesh for the first time at a resort.

In fact, this revelation might explain the now-infamous photo of Adele sporting Bantu knots while wearing a swim top designed in the Jamaican flag, which was posted on her Instagram page several weeks ago.

Based on H.E.R.’s revelation, it would appear the photo was in fact taken during that visit to the island, especially based on the tropical vegetation, building designs, and the phenotype, attire and stance, of the men who were in the background.

Luxury resorts and villas in Jamaica are oftentimes held to non-disclosure agreements with superstars when they visit their properties.  Celebrities and members of royal families, oftentimes tip-toe into Jamaica via private jets, to stay at these high end resorts in Hanover, Montego Bay and St. Mary and then exit without the general public knowing.

In any case, H.E.R, during a recent interview ahead of last night’s Saturday Night Live show where she joined guest host Adele for a performance, let the cat out of the proverbial bag, telling Flood Magazine, in an online interview, that it was just by chance that she happened to be passing a section of the unnamed resort and overheard the Rolling in the Deep superstar’s voice at a karaoke event.

The magazine shared a clip of the interview on its social media pages.

Adele, H.E.R. said, was having the time of her life at the karaoke session, belting out one of Amy Winehouse’s songs.

The singer who released her first solo reggae single Do To Me over the summer, and collaborated with Skip Marley on his record-setting Slow Down track in November last year, said meeting with the British megastar in the land of Bob Marley, came as a pleasant surprise.

“I was just in Jamaica and Adele was staying at the same resort as me, which was like super randomly crazy and I didn’t know at first.  Somebody kinda mentioned it but I really didn’t know and I heard like a really loud sound like somebody was doing karaoke and then I heard her voice and then I was like: ‘wait a minute’.  And so, long story short, we ended up speaking and that was my first time meeting her and she just kind of extended herself as an artiste and somebody’s somebody who’s been through this to me which was really really dope and then very personal and I appreciate things like that,” H.E.R. said.

“She was singing Valerie by Amy Winehouse and I heard it …and she sang the best part which was like yowwww…she sang the best part; I couldn’t believe it,” she explained to the interviewers.

Adele might have paid other unannounced visits to Jamaica prior.   In 2012 after announcing that she was the singer and co-writer for the soundtrack for the James Bond film Skyfall, the Hello artiste, who was pregnant with her first child at the time, also made it known that she would love to visit the luxurious Goldeneye resort in Jamaica.

Goldeneye is located in the community of Oracabessa in St. Mary and is the home of Ian Fleming, author of the 007 books, who had written all 14 Bond novels at the location.

Adele had come across Ian Fleming’s house when she was researching the spy series and had her heart set on going there, media reports had said at the time.   The Goldeneye estate is now owned by Island Records founder Chris Blackwell,  who guided  Bob Marley and helped spread his music across the world.
