It seems some hot new Dancehall may be in the works, that’s at least according to international recording artistes, Shaggy and Ne-Yo. While not much is known about what the duo is working on, according to both their Instagram accounts Ne-Yo is in Jamaica to contribute his efforts towards a collaboration.

Shaggy confirmed that it is new music they are working on, earlier today, October 14, when he posted “We cooking!! #holidayinjamaica #christmas #newmusic @neyo #ranchent. #BMG.” That post has already been liked over 3000 times in a little over three hours with fans from around the globe commenting their excitement,

“Did somebody said “new music?” Yes can’t wait for it Ne-yo & Shaggy that’s gotta b lit ,” one fan said while another added: “Can’t wait.”

In 2013, the pair teamed up to produce the mega-hit You Girl, which was nominated for a Soul Train Music Award for Best International Performance. The song which features smooth vocals from Ne-Yo has been viewed over 17 million times on YouTube so there’s little doubt that another track from the pair won’t be successful.

R&B sensation Ne-Yo has voiced his love for Reggae and Dancehall over the years and in 2018 he explained to Uproxx where his love of the genre comes from.

“I am a huge fan of reggae. I am a huge fan of dancehall and just the whole Caribbean vibe and feel. It’s always a good feeling. Always a good, warm feeling. And the music makes the ladies dance, and I love to watch women dance. Especially confident women,” he said.

He was speaking about his song Pushback at the time.

“So that’s what this song is about. It’s about confident women who get up and know how to move and have a good time. I feel like this is one of those records that when you put it on your body just sort of naturally does what it is supposed to do. It’s not even like you gotta think real hard about it. Kind of a no-brainer, so to speak,” he told Uproxx.

Earlier this year in March he joined popular deejay Charly Black for a song called Over Again which also did relatively well.

Ne-Yo also seems to be enjoying himself while in Jamaica as in his Instagram stories, he has a short clip which says “big tings ah gwan ….” and another with him relaxing on the sea in a yacht.
