Is dancehall rising star Jada Kingdom a legend in the making? Some fans certainly think so.

“U already the queen n when u die u gonna b a legend,” tweeted fan jadedthug in response to a tweet the Budum artiste dropped on her social media on September 27.

The singer, however, doesn’t appear to think that she’s being given due recognition.  Jada sent out a tweet that gave the impression that she doesn’t believe that she will get due recognition as an artiste in life, but instead, in death.

This is not quite the outcome you think an artiste with a budding career would perceive for herself.  The tweet didn’t end there. After that low-spirited outlook expressed by the singer, she continued on a more positive note, “More music coming soon regardless! I’ll be applying more pressure, stay tuned.”

Ending with a show of appreciation to her fans she wrote, “Mi love unu💕”

Fan Pretty.hustle responded, “Tap chat foolishness 🙄❗️your time is sooner than you think 💜🔗 if you ask me your already on your way 🤷🏽‍♀️😘”

While it’s not quite clear what specifically was behind the songstress’ tweet, her words give pause and remembrance to artistes who received awards and recognition after they were gone. Ray Charles, for example, is one artist to whom several Grammy Awards were presented posthumously in 2005. Another, Rapper Juice WRLD’s biggest hit, “Lucid Dreams,” shot to No.1 on Apple Music after news of his death broke.

Jada doesn’t seem to want that to be a part of her story.

She shared similar sentiments a few days earlier, tweeting, “When I die, please continue sleeping on me. Please💕.” Many of her fans took the tweet to mean that she is saying that, continue to underrate her musical talents and contributions after she’s gone, much in the same way that she believes it’s happening today.

This didn’t sit well with many of her fans, who checked her and reaffirmed the diva’s talents.

“You are one of the best artist I know, you’re a very talented young lady and you should keep up the good work, as your fans we recognize your great work and we love your music,” one fan responded to the tweet.

Another commented, “U done a get recognition sista. Just continue putting the work”.

A third added, “Ur too talented to be underrated.”

What’s clear is that she is well on her way to greatness, already achieving the goals she set for herself, penned in her diary 8 years ago.

In one of her old diaries, which she shared entries from on social media, she wrote: “I always wanted to be a singer, it is my destiny. I hope one day I will become a musician because I am multi-talented. I want my dreams to come true”

Realizing that dream has become a reality, Jada got emotional.

“Young me is so passionate and expressive,” she commented. “I love her and I’m going to make her so f**king proud.”

In another diary entry, she shared dreams of someday collaborating with her idol, Nicki Minaj. “Dear Diary, Nicki Minaj is my idol. I love her, and one day I wish I could meet her, and sing a song with her. She is the best raptress ever, and I wanna be just like her. Because I sound like her, shape like her, and act like her, I want to be her,” she wrote.

She saluted the rapper at the end of the entry, closing with “It’s Pink Friday.”

This too can be her reality. She just has to keep at it. In time, she’ll get her due recognition.
