Amidst calls for more positivity within the Jamaican music industry, Reggae artiste Protoje has thanked Koffee for her contributions to the island’s culture and has urged the Grammy award winner to “keep shining”.

Protoje showed his appreciation for Koffee in an Instagram post over the weekend. The caption which read, “thanks for all you’re doing for Jamaican Music and Culture. Keep shining.@originalkoffee” was accompanied by a photo of Koffee smiling brightly.

Protoje and Koffee recently collaborated on a track titled Switch It Up for his fifth studio album In Search Of Lost Time which was released on August 28.

Protoje’s post also comes at a time where several persons have been questioning the Toast singer’s sexuality, the most vociferous of the naysayers being popular music selector Foota Hype.

Several other entertainers, including most recently Konshens, have blasted the selector for his negative utterances. “Push the little girl!” Konshens encouraged,  “Ah di music we ah deal wid bro…People, when you see dem ah fight dung the yute dem, mek sure unu bun dem out…Mek sure the yute dem know say dem nuh alone..we genre need unity, we genre need we fi identify the bright sparks dem and push dem.”

Fans were elated at Protoje’s post and even Lila Iké stopped by to comment, “YUNG GAD @originalkoffee”

“Very talented indeed… I love the song u did together ‘switch it up'”, one follower commented.  “I love this young Queen.” was another comment made.

Earlier in July, Chronixx revealed during an interview with Hot 97’s Ebro in the Morning that he may be one of Koffee’s biggest fans. “Koffee really made me a more exciting person musically, after seeing how she approaches her creativity, it was just like a breath of fresh air,” he said.

Koffee’s Lockdownwhich was released on July 17, appears to be the most-streamed reggae/dancehall song of 2020 on YouTube with over 16 million views.  The music video evoked summer vibes and featured PopcaanSkillibengDre Island, the track’s producer Dane Ray, and a few others.

She followed up with the official release of Pressure on July 30 and has indicated that she is also working on a brand new album to be released early next year, or when she is able to travel and promote the project.

“I am doing a little camp right now, that’s just me and some musicians and producers and a few artistes. We just a build a vibes, seeing where that vibe takes us, and hopefully we create magic. The biggest thing for me right now is this album. Of course, I’ll be releasing singles in-between to kinda keep the pace a little, but the album is really where my focus is right now,” Koffee said.
