Dancehall singer Jada Kingdom has shared a riveting behind the scenes biopic from the making of her music video for her single, WiN. The visuals show audiences a glimpse of what life was like for her growing up pre-fame in her hometown of Seven Mile, Bull Bay in St. Thomas, Jamaica.

The 3-minute BTS documentary narrated by Jada gives us an insightful explanation of what the title of her single ‘WiN’ means to her as it walks us through several vicinities in Seven Mile, much like the music video, to include the rustic black sand beaches, seemingly where the Banana singer frequents for her many introspections.

What appears to be her family home and the main plot in the official music visualizer is a small concrete, and board dwelling, nestled behind corroding zinc made fences, a vivid depiction of very humble beginnings.

While the biopic captures the same candid documentary-style visuals, the behind the scenes version adds a little intrigue as Jada is caught in more intimate sessions with the people closest to her. Her mother, Tanisha, can also be heard in a snippet of the audio footage, expressing her disinclination with her daughter having to mingle about with the sullied music-studio lifestyle to launch her career.

Growing up in the impoverished community of Seven Mile, Jada said her start in music was tainted with uncertainty for several reasons. One of her most troubling thoughts came from actually knowing that the people in the area didn’t think she had it in her to represent the community well.

This had a significant impact on her confidence, but she was able to overcome, “A just me did haffi build di right amount ah confidence fi represent fi mi place a certain way,” Jada said.

WiN was inspired by “abundant humility”, she said, adding “I felt like I was walking around with this huge void everyday and I would just get frustrated because I neva understand what it was.” It took her some time, but eventually, she realized the void she felt within was created by self-doubt and hate from others.

kingdom-mom-winLike a memento, Jada wrote the lyrics of what is her story in the single WiN. She said, “Mi create WiN fi remind myself everyday say mi can do this and no matter how much mi fail … all mi did haffi do is get up and try again, cah mi must win one day.”

In the end, she would stop listening to the negativity and start believing in her self.

The 21- year old model turned Dancehall singer at the age of just 17, unanchored herself from all that was holding her down. As a teen, Jada made her big screen debut in Sean Kingston’s music video for One Away in 2016.

The now super star said, “Mi get fi realize seh, nobody can do it for me but me.” It is that mantra that has made her who she is today.
