Dancehall artiste Don Mafia is brewing controversy by putting his talents in music to work on a fully-loaded diss track, which claps back at recent allegations made by Beenie Man.   In the track, previewed on Instagram, Don hits out at Beenie, claiming he came “crying” to him when he found out his wife at the time, D’Angel was allegedly romantically involved with Vybz Kartel.

Both Kartel and D’Angel have denied the allegations on Instagram.

Mafia and Beenie have had a long-standing dispute spanning back several years. The two worked closely together in the mid-2000s producing music and often appearing on the same stage shows. However, things took an ugly turn when Mafia felt he wasn’t given due credit for writing excerpts on some of Beenie’s tracks.

In a recent online video last week, Beenie Man addressed those claims saying Mafia was, in fact, compensated for every music-related project he had ever done while working with him, from voicing on one of Capleton’s track to works done abroad.

Beenie also disclosed that Mafia developed animosity towards him for his involvement and subsequent marriage to D’Angel, saying Don Mafia felt she brought crosses (bad luck) in the camp.

“Stop call mi name … go look a life,” Beenie said.

Beenie added that he has always tried to help Don Mafia, aka Carol (his real name), but all he does is stir drama and fabricate lies.

Don Mafia initially responded to Beenie’s video with an Instagram video of his own on Sunday, June 5.  He had seen Beenie’s emotional visit to his mother, who was hospitalized, and said that he ‘doesn’t want to be that guy.’ He instead offered prayers for Beenie’s mom, saying that he did not want to “add stress to the situation” at that time.

Mafia promised to address the situation at a later date, and it appears that day was today.  The deejay dropped two snippets of a song on his Instagram page that were dripping in controversy.  He not only responded to the D’Angel comment but also revealed what he alleges to be the reason why Beenie supposedly doesn’t like Vybz Kartel.

One controversial verse on Don’s song goes, “A come a tell lie bout mi nuh like D’Angel, den nuh yuh a bawl to mi when she go f—k Kartel.”

Don may be capitalizing on the fact that D’Angel and Vybz Kartel collaborated on a song called Baby Father in 2006.   In a 2018 interview with the STAR, D’Angel explained how she quickly got fit for the song’s music video, which she said was filmed in February after she gave birth in November.

In response to coverage of the diss track by a YouTube channel, Kartel posted “wrong information” in an Instagram Story on June 8.

D’Angel also dismissed the allegations when she was asked directly by a fan on Instagram on June 8, saying “you a pay she mind?”.

Don further alleged in the song that Beenie hasn’t been paying his son’s medical bills, and if it weren’t for Ravers Boss Ding Dong, his daughter Desha Ravers would “a suffa like a hell.”

It doesn’t end there, Don Mafia resurrects even more gossip regarding many of Beenie’s past feuds, from allegedly sending a ‘duppy to box down Labba Labba,’ portraying the distinguished Grammy Award-winning artiste as some kind of witch Doctor to being a “musical robber.”

Mafia is no stranger to stirring up controversy.

In 2019, he released a song titled Drama (Inna Dancehall), which targeted Konshens, Beenie Man, Yanique Curvy Diva, and Dexta Daps. He told the STAR, “This new trend is about making headlines or as dem seh in the social media world, going viral.”

He added, “Back then (the 90s) it was about flooding the airwaves and streets with songs continuously. Now di ting change up because everybody a find a way to be the spotlight and get their name on social media for a week … drama this, drama that … maybe it too much or just trending why it look suh.”
