Winnie Harlow Reps Vybz Kartel On Diddy’s IG Live, But Kartel Still Has Intence On His Mind
What’s a hot dance-a-thon without the mixings of a little dancehall music?
Renowned rapper and record producer Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs would tell you it wouldn’t be a great one. This weekend on Easter Sunday, Diddy hosted a virtual dance-a-thon for coronavirus relief. The funds were raised in efforts of aiding U.S. healthcare workers on the front lines of the coronavirus fight.
Among the string of celebrities that took the time to join in and dance with the hip-hop icon and his family were his former flame Jennifer Lopez, along with Drake, Lebron James, DJ Khaled, Megan Thee Stallion, Kelly Rowland and Burna Boy.
Diddy’s sons King and Justin Dior, co-hosted the live IG dance sessions, calling up their very own celeb friends, including Jamaican-Canadian model Winnie Harlow. They sprung the beaut up on her feet dancing as they dropped Vybz Kartel’s 2010 hit single Clarks featuring Popcaan and Gaza Slim (now Vanessa Bling).
The 2 minute and 43 second session featured all three singing the lyrics of the song and doing their versions of some Jamaican dances including heel and toe, and Harlow breaking away to do some traditional booty shaking moves. The boys then mixed in another one of Kartel’s famous collabs, Ramping Shop with Spice, where Harlow again stole the show by grabbing a friend to assume the position Kartel’s lyrics referenced. Sodden with pride, the Worl’ Boss shared a video clip of the dance-a-thon on his IG page. But it looks like Kartel’s current strife with dancehall artiste Intence is still racking his mind, as he captioned the Instagram post, “If your music dont pass norman manley airport stfu peasant!”
Intence earned Kartel’s ire by briefly denying the Worl’ Boss the #1 trending video spot in Jamaica three days ago following the release of Up Top Gaza with TeeJay. The young breakout deejay while heating up the scenes on the island hasn’t yet gone mainstream. Intence’s promising career may get him there eventually but for the meantime, it looks like he may need to sit in agreement with the Gaza Boss.
As did many other dancehall elite, Spice commented on the post saying “Make dem stay deh, Some a dem song not even pass the round about outa airport”.
American rapper, Busta Rymes even dropped a few lines supporting Kartel saying “Nuh seh nuttin’ Teacha!! You nuh fo even acknowledge HEEEEEDIOT!!!”.
Further along in the thread of teaming comments, Kartel continued lamenting his feeling about the matter saying “Them nuh inna we leagues, them song yah live forever 🔥”, and rightly so.
Kartel’s music, new and old, vibrantly lives on and is celebrated all over the world by the young and the old, as demonstrated in Diddy’s dance-a-thon by his 20-something year-old kids and Winnie (25yrs), who were all tweens when Clarks and Ramping Shop released.
Diddy wasn’t the only one reppin Kartel on their Instagram Live this weekend. The Worl Boss also shared a post of the FENTY Social Club in association with Rihanna (@badgalriri) who were streaming from LA and London, also dropping his track Clarks during a mixing session. In celebration of his mega presence around the globe, captioned the post “Ok one More! …but only ’cause its @fenty 😊”
