As Reggae Month kicks off, recording artist Etana is thrilled to be the first-ever Reggae Month Ambassador for 2026.

“I am so excited about Reggae Month this February 2026 to be celebrating reggae and dancehall music, and our rich Jamaican Culture. It’s the perfect time to be in Jamaica. Join the festivities,” Etana said.

Her responsibilities will include: include showcasing reggae music through various avenues such as cultural events; educational initiatives, and international collaborations, with the aim to ensure that the richness and significance of reggae is celebrated globally.

She further extended gratitude to the Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment, and Sports, as well as all other necessary stakeholders.

“I am truly grateful to our great Honorable Olivia “Babsy” Grange, OJ, CD, MP, all the JCDC (Jamaica Cultural Development Commission) staff, and all who were involved in naming me Reggae Month Ambassador in 2026. It is my honor to serve. Feel the Riddim! Reggae Month 2026,” she continued.

Etana is looking forward to a successful collaboration this month that aims to highlight Reggae/ Dancehall/and Jamaican culture in creative ways. She also adds that Etana day will be celebrated on February 10. The proclamation was made Feb 10, 2025, by Mayor Denise Grant and the city of Lauderhill, in the state of Florida.

“2026 is special because it is also the beginning of the rebuilding of Jamaica after it was struck by the category 5 hurricane. Our great Leader Minister Olivia “Babsy” Grange emphasises that culture, entertainment, and sports are crucial for tourism, driving revenue, pride, and showcasing Brand Jamaica through festivals (like Reggae Month) and artistes, while the country rebuilds post-hurricane, working to attract visitors with diverse experiences, including sports tourism and partnerships with the diaspora. She highlights festivals as vital economic drivers and part of a new 10-year cultural policy, positioning Jamaica as a premier destination for diverse tourism, even as recovery from recent disruptions continues,” she said.

She will be performing on Wickie Wackie festival in 8 Mile Bull Bay on the 14th of February and February 6th in the Bob Marley Celebration in Emancipation Park, among other great artists and his offsprings.
