DancehallMag is the leading independent publication covering Dancehall and Reggae music, the artists, and culture since 2019.

Skillibeng isn’t saying much, and that seems to be the point. The St. Catherine deejay hit Instagram with a short all-caps announcement that his “Big Glock” music video is “FWRDNG SOON,” and the brevity alone has his followers paying attention.

The post tags @flashymusick, but Skillibeng doesn’t explain the account’s role. Fans are left to guess whether it points to a producer, a director, or someone else attached to the project.

There’s also no release date, no preview clip, and no word on whether “Big Glock” is already out as a single or is arriving alongside the visual. For now, “forwarding soon” is all anyone has to work with.

That kind of minimal rollout fits how Skillibeng has operated since breaking through. His 2020 hit “Whap Whap” spread well beyond Jamaica and picked up a remix with Fivio Foreign and French Montana, a crossover moment that put him on the radar of hip-hop listeners who didn’t follow dancehall closely.

He built on that momentum in 2021 when Nicki Minaj jumped on the remix of “Crocodile Teeth.”

The collaboration pushed his raspy, clipped delivery onto even bigger playlists and strengthened his reputation as one of the more distinctive voices of dancehall’s newer generation.

Since then, much of his catalog has leaned into the gritty, hard-edged energy that first drew attention. A track called “Big Glock” sits squarely in that lane, and his core audience has always responded to that rawness.

The title is likely to draw a different reaction elsewhere. Gun talk has been part of dancehall for decades, and so has the argument about it, with critics in Jamaica pushing back on lyrics they see as glorifying violence.

That debate has played out in official channels too. Jamaica’s Broadcasting Commission issued a 2022 directive restricting songs that promote illegal activity on local airwaves, and it shaped conversations about how far artists can go on mainstream platforms.

For many fans, though, these songs are about persona and street storytelling, not literal instruction.

That split between people who hear authenticity and people who hear a problem has followed dancehall’s harder subgenres for a long time, and a track named “Big Glock” will probably reopen it.

Music videos carry extra weight in dancehall. The visuals often decide whether a track stays local or travels, especially on YouTube and social clips where international listeners tend to find Jamaican artists first.

Skillibeng’s earlier breakout came partly through that kind of online spread. A strong video for “Big Glock” could give the track a similar push, while a quieter release might leave it as a fan favorite rather than a wider moment.

There’s no confirmed drop date yet, no teaser footage, and no clarification on who’s behind the camera. Until Skillibeng or @flashymusick shares more, his followers are watching the page and waiting for the next post.
