Vybz Kartel is reaching back into his catalog for his latest release. The Worl’ Boss announced on Instagram that one of his classics has finally been “bestowed with an Official Music Video,” now streaming on VYBZKARTELVEVO.

He framed the drop as a gift to the people, opening the post with “For the Culture 🇯🇲.” He also added the hashtags #thingsyoudidntknowyouneeded and #everblessed, a cheeky signal that this is a visual fans may not have been asking for but will be glad to have.

The post doesn’t name the track, so anyone wanting to know which era of Kartel is getting the visual treatment will have to head to the VEVO channel.

That’s a familiar move from an artist who has always known how to make people come to him rather than the other way around.

The timing helps explain why a retroactive video lands differently now. For more than a decade Kartel recorded and released music while incarcerated after his 2014 murder conviction.

Through those years the songs kept coming, but proper visuals built around him were mostly out of reach.

That changed in 2024. The Privy Council in London quashed his conviction in March, and that July Jamaica’s Court of Appeal declined to order a retrial, freeing him after years behind bars.

Since then, every new piece of Kartel content has carried the weight of a man able to fully show up for his own work again.

There are two ways to read a move like this. For longtime supporters, giving an older song a real video is a form of preservation, a chance to attach images to music that soundtracked parties, sound clashes and car rides for years.

Others will likely see it as a strategic catalog play. Fresh visuals can bring older material back into the algorithm and introduce it to listeners who came to dancehall long after the song first dropped.

Both readings can be true at once. Kartel’s catalog is deep, and he has long been one of dancehall’s most prolific voices, so there is no shortage of records that could get the same treatment.

Whether this is a one-off nod to the culture or the start of a broader effort to revisit his back catalog with new visuals, he hasn’t said.

For now, the video is live on VYBZKARTELVEVO, and the comment sections are where the debate over which classic should be next will play out.
