For a song that spent years living in concert clips and fan uploads, Shroom Clouds finally has a proper home. A$AP Rocky put the track on streaming platforms on October 16, ending a long wait for fans who first heard it on stage.
Back then it went by Mushroom Clouds, and Rocky performed it live across 2021 and 2022 without ever giving it an official release. The trimmed title is new, but the anticipation has been building for years.
Hector Delgado handled production, with Reggie and Jeremih also contributing to the record. Jeremih knows his way around a hook, so his name in the credits gave fans one more reason to press play the moment it dropped.
The timing isn’t random. Shroom Clouds lands just as Rocky gears up for Don’t Be Dumb (Disc 2), an expanded edition of his latest album that mixes previously released songs with unreleased material.
That second disc is essentially a look back at the long stretch between his studio albums. Rocky went eight years between Testing in 2018 and Don’t Be Dumb, and he kept dropping singles and teasing new songs the whole way through.

Songs expected on the new disc include Babushka Boi, Sundress, Grim Freestyle, Hijack and Trunks. Some of them are getting updated verses and production changes, so they won’t simply be copied over as they first appeared.
That sets up an obvious tension. For casual listeners, having these scattered tracks gathered in one place is a clean way to catch up on years of loose releases.
For the diehards who have had Sundress since 2018 and Babushka Boi since 2019, any change to a familiar verse means hearing a new take on a song they already know by heart. Some will welcome the refresh, while others may simply want the originals left alone.
There’s a commercial logic here too. Don’t Be Dumb debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in January 2026, so extending its life with a second disc keeps the momentum going rather than letting the album drift.

Releasing Shroom Clouds first also plays to the fans who kept the song alive in the first place. The people who filmed it at shows and passed the clips around are getting rewarded before anyone else.
Rocky isn’t just working from the studio either. He has performances lined up in Australia and New Zealand this December, which gives him a chance to bring the reworked material in front of crowds on the other side of the world.
Until Disc 2 arrives, Shroom Clouds is the one piece fans can actually stream, and it’s already doing the job of a teaser. Whatever else Rocky has pulled from those eight years, the wait for the rest has officially started.
