Quavo didn’t hold a press conference or post a long caption to announce he’s a dad. He slipped a baby girl into the middle of an album trailer and let the internet do the math.
The Atlanta rapper posted the clip to Instagram on Monday (Sept. 28). It teases a short film tied to his new album, QRÖMELIFE.
The montage moves through throwback Migos footage, studio sessions for the LP and scenes of him settling into a new home before landing on a quick moment with the child.
His caption kept things vague. “New Beginnings New Blessings,” he wrote, without saying outright that the baby was his.
That mystery didn’t last long. Less than 24 hours later, Quavo confirmed to Complex that the little girl is his daughter. “It brings joy to me,” he said. “It brings a whole new reason why I’m doing this.”
He didn’t name the child’s mother. Quavo has been dating professional gymnast and model Erica Fontaine for several years, though he hasn’t publicly said anything about her connection to the baby.
The reveal gives QRÖMELIFE a very different feel from a typical rollout. Instead of leading with a single or a flashy guest verse, Quavo opened with something personal. That fits a trailer built around new homes and new chapters.
The album arrives Friday (Oct. 2) with Pharrell serving as executive producer. The expected guest list is stacked, with Justin Timberlake, Yung Miami, A$AP Rocky, T.I., Tyler, the Creator, Future and Lil Baby all set to appear.
The name drawing the most attention, though, is Offset. His appearance marks his first collaboration with Quavo in over four years, and for longtime Migos fans that carries real weight.
The two haven’t shared a song since “We Did It,” a cut from Ye’s Donda 2 in 2022. Their last release as Migos was Culture III in 2021, the final album the trio put out together.
That history hangs over any Quavo and Offset reunion. Takeoff, Quavo’s nephew and the third member of Migos, was shot and killed in Houston in November 2022. The loss reshaped both of their careers in the years since.
Quavo had already been building a solo lane before then. He released Quavo Huncho in 2018 and teamed with Takeoff for Only Built for Infinity Links in 2022. He followed that with Rocket Power in 2023.
QRÖMELIFE now arrives with a Pharrell stamp, a Migos reunion of sorts and a newborn daughter in the opening frames of its story. The full short film is still on the way before Friday’s release. For now, a few seconds of footage of that baby girl are doing most of the talking.
