Lieutenant Stitchie, born Cleveland Laing, passed away after months of fighting for his life. He had been hospitalised at a private medical facility since suffering a debilitating stroke in September 2024.
“It’s with a heavy and saddening heart I’m writing this post folks walk safe big bro see you on the other side bcuz legends never dies they transcend from a Govana to a Govana,” Bounty wrote on Instagram.
The line plays on Stitchie’s long-standing nickname, The Governor, a title he carried through decades in the business.
For anyone following Stitchie’s illness, Bounty’s grief won’t come as a surprise. Throughout the ordeal, the Warlord made it clear he wasn’t going to sit on the sidelines while one of his peers struggled.
In October 2024, Bounty handed over $10,000 USD through the Bounty Foundation to assist Stitchie. Shaggy partnered on the effort, bringing two of the genre’s biggest names together behind a man who helped shape the sound they both came up in.
