Dexta Daps Is Already Joking About Tomorrow Night’s Troxy Show

DancehallMag is the leading independent publication covering Dancehall and Reggae music, the artists, and culture since 2019.

Leave it to Dexta Daps to hype a London show with a warning instead of a flex. His Instagram post ahead of tomorrow’s Troxy date reads: “Mi can’t afford it! Ladies, if you catch my coat tomorrow please throw it back!” and honestly, that’s a more entertaining promo than most artists manage with a full marketing budget.

The show is at Troxy in London, with doors opening at 7pm, and if you know Dexta’s live reputation, you already know the room is going to be a lot.

The Troxy is one of those venues that suits his energy intimate enough to feel electric, big enough to hold a crowd that’s genuinely there for it.

The coat comment is clearly a joke, but it’s also very on-brand for someone who built a whole lane out of being effortlessly charismatic without taking himself too seriously.

Fans in the replies were already running with it, some promising to keep the coat, some tagging friends who they fully expect to be in the front row causing chaos.

There’s always a split in the crowd at a Dexta show the people who are there for the slower, more seductive cuts and the ones who want the high-energy dancehall moments. London crowds tend to want both, and they’re not shy about making that known.

Whether the coat survives the night is genuinely unclear.
