YG Marley‘s debut single, Praise Jah In The Moonlight, has surpassed 100 million plays on Spotify.

Marley, born Joshua Omaru Marley, is the son of R&B singer-rapper Lauryn Hill and Rohan Marley, an entrepreneur and son of Reggae legend Bob Marley.

His song reached the big milestone on Saturday (February 25), one day after the official release of the live version of the track, which was recorded during his mother’s concert at the Chase Center in San Francisco in November last year.

Released on December 27, Praise Jah In The Moonlight opens with a vocal sample from Bob Marley & The Wailers’ 1978 track Crisis, and also credits his Hill as a writer. The song explores themes of love, spirituality, and resilience in the face of challenges.

YG became the seventh member of the Marley family to enter the Billboard Hot 100 chart when the song debuted at No. 74 earlier this month. It’s currently at No. 63 in its third week on the chart.

Meanwhile, in the United Kingdom, it has spent six weeks on the UK Singles Chart, where it’s currently at No. 6.

On the Canadian Billboard Hot 100, the song is at No. 27.

On the Billboard Global 200 chart, the song is currently at No. 15, up from its debut at No. 81.

A viral TikTok video by Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s daughter, North West, likely gave the song another boost. It’s currently at No. 12 on the TikTok Billboard Top 50 chart.

Bob Marley & The Wailers’ Roots, Rock, Reggae was their only song to reach the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at No. 51 in 1976.

Damian ‘Jr. Gong’ Marley first entered the Hot 100 with Welcome To Jamrock peaked at No. 55 in 2005. He returned with Jay-Z on Bam, which peaked at No. 47 in 2017.

Ziggy Marley & The Melody Makers have two entries on the chart: Tomorrow People, which peaked at 29, and Good Time, which peaked at No. 85.

Ky-Mani Marley also has two entries on the chart for his featured appearances on PM Dawn’s Gotta Be…Movin’ On Up, which peaked at No. 9, and Refugee Camp All Stars’ Avenueswhich peaked at No. 35.

Skip Marley has one entry on the chart, thanks to his Katy Perry collaboration, Chained to the Rhythm, which peaked at No. 4 in 2017.
