Shaggy Has A New Channel On SiriusXM

Grammy-winning Dancehall artist Shaggy has introduced his very own channel on SiriusXM, dubbed ‘Shaggy’s Boombastic Radio’.

The channel, which airs on 332 on the SiriusXM app, is expected to “bring listeners Shaggy’s favorite reggae, dancehall and afrobeats,” according to a press release.

It was further stated that the channel was announced as part of SiriusXM’s Next Generation Industry & Press Preview event in New York.

“Shaggy’s Boombastic Radio, curated entirely by Shaggy, invites listeners to immerse themselves in the sounds of reggae, dancehall and vibrant afrobeats. From the iconic rhythms of Sean Paul and Lady Saw to the dynamic sounds of Wizkid and Burna Boy, Shaggy’s Boombastic Radio is packed with songs that will get everyone moving while celebrating the rich musical traditions of the Caribbean and Africa…,” the release explained.

Meanwhile, Shaggy’s Yaad, the reggae icon’s current show which first debuted on SiriusXM’s FLY and is now in its third successful year, will now regularly air on Shaggy’s Boombastic Radio. The show, hosted by Shaggy, takes listeners on a cultural journey with a wide mix of rare and classic tracks spanning the hip-hop, dancehall and reggae genres, the release also said. 

To kick off the channel’s official launch, Shaggy’s Boombastic Radio will also debut Shaggy and Sting’s recent live performance from their inaugural One Fine Day Festival. 

The performance, captured at the Mann Center in Philadelphia, will air on the channel over Thanksgiving weekend.

The singer, who was born Orville Burrell, alongside English musician Sting headlined the festival on September 9, 2023. 

The festival used both the TD Pavilion and the Skyline Stage at Fairmount Park’s outdoor music venue. 

Earlier this year, Shaggy told Live Nation Entertainment that teaming up with his English counterpart is always an amalgamation of uniqueness that complement each other.

“Sting is a catalyst for musical curiosity,” Shaggy said.

“When we collaborate, we combine our musical tastes, individual cultures and a sense of wonder. We wanted to invite some of our favorite musicians to gather in real time and share some of that very vibe at One Fine Day.” 

Fellow musicians and fans alike are celebrating Shaggy’s latest venture. 

Haitian rapper Wyclef Jean was among the bunch. “History!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So proud of you brother,” he said.

Reggae veteran Gramps Morgan added, “YESSSSSSSS LETS GO”

A supporter said, “Wonderful I love Shaggy’s Yaad so this is perfect.”

“Awesome I can listen to it on my phone and at home and in the car,” said another fan.
