Derrick Morgan Retains Lawyer Charles Ganga-Singh To Pursue Defamation Suit Against Queen Ifrica

The family of legendary ska singer Derrick Morgan has retained attorney at law Charles Ganga-Singh in Jamaica to pursue legal action against Morgan’s daughter Ventrice ‘Queen Ifrica’ Morgan, who had accused the Tougher than Tough singer of rape.

“We have retained the services of Charles Ganga-Singh to represent the defamation case against Ventrice,” Merrick Morgan, a son of the legendary singer, confirmed on Thursday.

Queen Ifrica made the allegations against her father, Derrick Morgan during an Instagram livestream in August. The Lioness on the Rise singer had said that she was inspired by God to speak out on the allegations amid a back and forth with a social media personality, who, coincidentally, is also named Derrick Morgan.

During the Live, Ifrica quoted lyrics from her 2009 hit Daddy, including, “Can’t you see I’m scared? You’re supposed to be my father.”

Derrick Morgan strongly denied the allegations in a strongly-worded message on Instagram post. Further, the Morgan clan also shot down the allegations, contending that Derrick Morgan is a blind man with neurological impairments who could not have committed such an act.

Attorney-at-law Charles Ganga-Singh, who is also known as Advoket, an artist in his own right, could not be reached for comment. He was called to the bar in October 1994 and has been involved in a number of high-profile legal cases in Jamaica.

Morgan is one of the most recognized ska artists, having been conferred with the Order of Distinction in 2001, the Reggae Icon Award in 2022, and the Jamaica Reggae Industry Association (JARIA) Lifetime Achievement Award in 2019. He is known for songs such as Blazing Fire, Don’t Call Me Daddy, The Conqueror, In My Heart, Tougher than Tough and Seven Letters.
