Shenseea Relieved After Breast Cancer Scare
A recent stop at the doctor’s office has Dancehall star Shenseea breathing a sigh of relief, as she made the visit fully expecting to be diagnosed with breast cancer. Fortunately, she received no such news.
In a video shared to Instagram, the Blessed singer explained: “Came to the doctor thinking that I was gonna find out that I had cancer in breast but… he said it’s just a part of my breast. Thank God, thank God.”
The 26-year-old, who appeared visibly relieved, can be observed in the short video wearing a hospital gown as she films in what appears to be an examination room.
Instagram users came out in droves to share in the singer’s relief, offering everything from personal accounts to words of encouragement to the Mandeville native.
“Whew! Glad my sis good. That’s a scary, scary thing to hear,” one comment said.
Another user, who also feared the worst as Shenseea did, wrote: “Thought y’all was finna say my baby had cancer”, which was followed by a crying face emoji.
“This literally just happened to me two weeks ago. Y’all, get your mammograms ladies and start them as early as 25 if you have a family history of breast cancer. Early detection can save your life!” said user itsbee.713.
There were some, however, who believed the video post was a veiled attempt by the Lick singer to get attention, as well as to mask what they believe may be a hint that she will be getting a boob job.
“She’s getting a boob job lol,” one comment read, while another quipped, “These celebrities be real life NPC ‘side-conversationing’ us to death. We didn’t need to know this.”
Other users posted GIFs implying the star was merely attention-seeking, while there were others who believed she was making a mockery of actual breast cancer victims. Among the lot were comments that attempted to inject humor, though some missed the mark on appropriateness.
“Let me suck it out,” read one such comment, while another asked the star to let them personally inspect it for her.
Though there were complaints that the star was oversharing, this incident isn’t the first time the singer would be making fans privy to personal medical issues.
Last November, while she awaited her Revolt Summit debut in Atlanta, Shenseea abruptly announced her withdrawal from that and other scheduled shows because of an undisclosed medical illness.
She later disclosed that she recovered from “hematoma”—a condition that occurs when large blood vessels are damaged and leak, resulting in pain and swelling.
In the meantime, with October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the scare by Shenseea is a timely reminder for at-risk individuals to get screened.
