Spice Celebrates Another Birthday With Missy Elliot
Missy ‘Misdemeanor’ Elliot celebrated one more year around the sun on July 1, and you guessed it – the Queen of Dancehall, ‘Spice,’ was once again present for the festivities and fun.
Elliot, who just turned 52, was overwhelmed with gratitude to the friends that turned out to make her special day ‘one for the books’. The music icon shared the ‘rare’ occasion on social media with a string of photos, posing with Spice and others like TV personalities Yandy Smith, and Pretty Vee, and producer Corte Ellis.
“Thank you to all my friends who gave me a dinner & FLOWERS,” Missy wrote in an Instagram post on Sunday (July 16).
“I work so much I didn’t realize how much I needed some RELAXATION & ENJOYMENT of life with some of the people who have kept my spirits up at some point of my life💜I love yall! @keontheconnect Thank You this party was one 4 da books🤣😂💃🏾🥂🍾,” she continued.
Over on Twitter, Missy noted that she has only had “3 vacations” as her busy schedule doesn’t allow for breaks or celebrations like the ones her friends pulled off for her this year.
Missy’s birthday shenanigans saw her party guests breaking loose on the dancefloor but none better than Spice, who got on ‘bad’, dancing and bubbling to her single So Mi Like It before dropping into a full split on the floor.
“This is how the night STARTED & how it ENDED,” Missy said on the Twitter post capturing the antics. “Lol how in the world it started the same way it ended. Lol they came in READYYYY! I enjoyed myself. It’s good to take some time for YOURSELF. FREE YA MIND.”
Fans of Spice will know the kindred friendship between herself and the Super Duper Fly singer. In fact, since they last collaborated on the song, Fun, back in 2011, many have been urging the two to collaborate on another song.
Missy even hinted that she and Spice were in fact working on some new music in a 2020 Twitter comment when asked by a fan, “Y’all cooking up a collab?”
Spice has been a frequent at Elliot’s birthday events over the years. In 2011, Spice took the stage with rap star, Trina at Santo and gave one of her epic performances for the Get Your Freak On rapper’s birthday.
For Missy’s 49th surprise party in 2020, Spice was among an intimate gathering of friends. “About last night @missymisdemeanorelliott it was a pleasure spending another birthday with you again 🙏🏾 GOAT,” she wrote on IG at the time.
Again in 2021, the Work It rapper rang in her 50th birthday in Atlanta with some of the music industry’s finest, including Spice.
“Stop what you’re doing 🛑 ‼️Help me wish this Legend @missymisdemeanorelliott a Happy Birthday 🎉🎂🎈🎁🎊 Most genuine, humble , sweetest soul 💙💙💙 One of My inspirations 🥰🥰🥰Love you forever Missy,” Spice wrote in another IG post that year.
