Barack Obama has released his annual Summer Playlist and Jamaican singer Koffee has made the Former US President’s list of curated music for the sixth time.

Pull Up, from Koffee’s debut album Gifted, is featured among songs such as Beyonce’s Break My Soul and Burna Boy’s Last Last on the list shared today (July 26).

“Every year, I get excited to share my summer playlist because I learn about so many new artists from your replies—it’s an example of how music really can bring us all together,” Obama noted on Twitter.

Pull Up was the only reggae/dancehall track among the 44 songs included on the list, which the President has previously credited his daughter and “family music guru”, Sasha, for helping him to curate.

Produced by JAE5, Pull Up’s KC Locke-directed music video has picked up over 8 million views on YouTube since it was released in February 2022.  Koffee performed the single on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon later that month.

The 22-year-old, who has been on Rihanna, Kyle Jenner, and Michelle Obama’s playlists, has remained on Obama’s radar over the last three years.

She made his Summer Playlist in 2021 for her collab with Protoje on Switch It Up, but did not secure a spot on his Favourite Music Of 2021 list, which included Spice, Shaggy and Sean Paul.

In 2020, Obama’s Summer Playlist included John Legend’s Don’t Walk Away featuring Koffee, while his Favourite Music Of 2020 list included Koffee’s Repeat collab with J Hus.

In 2019, Toast made both Obama’s Summer Playlist and Favourite Music list that year.
