Mura Masa’s ‘blessing me’ With Skillibeng, Pa Salieu Is TikTok’s First Song Of Summer 2022
Mura Masa’s blessing me, which featured British rapper Pa Salieu and Jamaican deejay Skillibeng, was named one of TikTok’s ‘Summer Song of the Week’.
The initiative is designed to champion the songs and sounds of Europe that will “have you dancing across the continent,” a release from the social media platform noted.
“Starting 8th July, every Friday for seven weeks, one European country will choose a song to be promoted widely to the TikTok community, who in turn will also see exclusive content posted from the respective artists channels.”
Selected by the UK, blessing me was the first song chosen this year.
The song was released on May 25 and will appear on Masa’s forthcoming demon time album, due out on September 16.
The track was featured on TikTok’s Sounds page, which TikTok noted “has been transforming the way fans make, discover and engage with music and artists, helping emerging talent build a fanbase and achieve huge success both on and off TikTok.”
“So thrilled that ‘blessing me’ has been picked as TikTok’s UK summer song of the week,” Mura Masa said in the release. “It’s great to see people connecting with the song in real time and creating amazing videos, dances and more alongside it. Thanks to Pa and Skilli for their work on this record, and thank you everybody who’s been making creations with the sound.”
Over 160,000 blessing me videos have been uploaded by the TikTok community, most of which feature Skillibeng’s popular verse.
