West Indies cricketer turned artist Chris ‘Universe Boss’ Gayle is enthusiastic about being a featured act on The Tropical House Cruises to Jamaica: The Asian Edition album, set for release on June 24.

Gayle’s single, titled Gimme Your Love, is a collaboration with up-and-coming act Shav-A. The project is being executively produced by Sean ‘Contractor’ Edwards.

“It’s a great look, it’s a big look to be featured on the Contractor new album. I’m excited…first time being featured on an album,” Gayle, 42, told DancehallMag.

The other acts on the set include R&B singer Jason Derulo, King Tiger, Alistar, Lady Marga MC, Gentleman, Morgan Heritage, Sashi the Don, rapper Redman and incarcerated Reggae singer Jah Cure.

Gayle explained that he has high expectations for the project.

“Hopefully it can reach the Billboard and tings can gwaan more so for the Universe Boss from a music point of view. I’m excited about it—really and truly. You know, Shav-A and Universe Boss…come gimme, come gimme. Yeah! I’m looking forward to it man,” he said.

It was just last month that Contractor received a Billboard Plaque for hitting the Billboard Compilation Album Chart with his project Tropical House Cruises to Jamaica: The Reggae Collector’s Edition.   The producer had noted that that compilation was geared towards tapping into African markets. This pending album is being curated to appeal to Asian consumers.

Gayle added that he is pleased with the quality of the album and is confident that it will be well received.

“I think the album will be great. To have the Universe Boss on the album, and he (the producer) is looking to target the Asian market…India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh…you know those are my grounds! I’ve been so dominant on the cricket platform so, with music separate from cricket, it should be something new to the people on the Asian side of things so I’m excited about it and I’m looking forward to that, as well. At the end of the day, everyone should be happy about it, so yes, I’m excited about it! Asia, we’re coming…”

Last April, Gayle’s track Jamaica to India reaped success as it hit the pole position on the charts in the South Asian country.  The song, which was a collaboration featuring Indian pop artist Emiway, has over 53 million views on YouTube.

Gayle is the principal of Triple Century Records and has been involved in other tracks like Too Hot featuring Stylo G, We Come fi Party featuring Tanto Blacks and most recently Don’t Go.
