Popcaan’s Unruly brand in collaboration with London-based music and travel company Pollen have teamed up for Unruly Culture Splash, a four-day festival fusing Jamaican, African and UK music to be held in Croatia.

The events, which include live performances, pool parties, sound clashes, and excursions, will take place at Zrće beach on the island of Pag from September 1 to 5.

The guest performances, which the Twist & Turn singer will curate, are yet to be announced.

Founded in 2014, Pollen has previously organized artist-curated weekend festivals with other stars, such as Justin Bieber and J Balvin in Las Vegas, Diplo in Cabo, 50 Cent in Mexico, and Duran Duran in Ibiza.  According to the company, Culture Splash will be the first travel gateway of its kind in Europe.

“At Culture Splash, expect huge headline performances with a line up like no other curated by Unruly’s very own Popcaan, bringing together sound-system culture from across the globe and its community, highlighting the creativity, wellness, music, food, dance and vibes with lots of surprises in-store,” Pollen said in a release.

“Croatia is known for bringing the biggest and best music experiences to their country, and this one is no different. Set on a stunning beach that has become known to be among the best party locations in the world, this is the place to be this Summer.”

Popcaan, who is signed to Drake’s OVO Sound and who recently signed a management deal with Since ’93, is also expected to release his fifth studio album sometime this year.  Titled Great Is He, the artist, born Andrae Sutherland, has promised that it will be his best work yet.

“It is going to be an amazing album. The FIXTAPE was like a warm-up for this album. It’s a different energy and it’s more inspiration. The more I travel, the more inspiration I get. I had some good times whilst I was here, so that will definitely roll out in the music as well,” he told the UK’s GRM Daily last year.

Great Is He will follow Where We Come From (2014), Forever (2018), Vanquish (2019), FIXTAPE (2020), all of which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart.

The first single from the album is Skeleton Cartier, which was released in March 2022.
