Shenseea‘s Alpha album has debuted on two Billboard charts.

Billboard revealed on Tuesday that Alpha opened at No. 2 on the Reggae Albums chart, a weekly chart that ranks the most popular Reggae albums in the United States based on sales and streaming.  The last female Jamaican artists to enter the Top 5 of the Reggae Albums chart were Koffee, with her Rapture EP which peaked at No. 1 in 2019, Vanessa Bling, with her Still Standing EP, which peaked at No. 3 in December 2018, and Spice, with her Captured mixtape, which had also peaked at No. 1 in November 2018.

Alpha has also debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart, which highlights and ranks the sales by new and developing musical recording artists each week.

Released via Rich Immigrants/Interscope Records on March 11, 2022, Alpha sold 4,900 units total from sales and streaming in the United States, according to data provided to DancehallMag from Billboard’s sales tracker, Luminate.  This included 800 copies in pure album sales.

Speaking with Apple Music 1 in February, as part of the platform’s Up Next program, the Sure Sure artist had said that dominating the Billboard charts was high on her list this year.  “I wanna hit the charts.  I wanna be running the charts.  I feel like that is my goal for the first part of the year, and then to have just hits on the Hot 100,” the 25-year-old said. “I just want my music to be heard all over the world… my main focus is to get my music out there to everybody and everything will fall in place after that.”

Alpha featured Megan Thee Stallion, Tyga, 21 Savage, Offset, Beenie Man, and Sean Paul, and a slew of hit-making producers including Murda Beatz, London On Da Track, Rvssian, Dr. Luke, and Supa Dups.

Only three songs from the 14-track set have so far entered one or more Billboard chart.

Lick featuring Megan Thee Stallion had peaked at No. 20 on the Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100, No. 23 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales, and No. 14 on the Rap Digital Song Sales chart.

R U That with 21 Savage had peaked at No. 25 on the Rap Airplay chart, No. 34 on the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart; No. 36 on the Rhythmic Airplay chart, and No. 37 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart.

Blessed with Tyga, which was released in 2019, had peaked at No. 2 on the Reggae Digital Song Sales chart (now discontinued) and No. 37 on the Rhythmic Airplay chart.
