Shenseea Confirms She’s In A Relationship And It’s Not Drake Or London On Da Track
Shenseea has a new boyfriend.
The 25-year-old Jamaican singer revealed that she’s no longer single while speaking to The Breakfast Club‘s Angela Yee during the show’s Freaky Fridays segment today. Shenseea, whose debut album ALPHA was also released today (March 11), confirmed that she’s been dating someone new but ‘nobody’ knows who he is and she intends on keeping it that way.
While Shenseea gave some inclination that her new guy could be someone in the entertainment industry, she insisted that it wasn’t American producer London On Da Track, who was spotted holding hands with her at the Super Bowl last month.
“London is a cool dude to me. We have been working together making music,” she said of London, who co-produced the song Can’t Anymore on her album. Earlier on in the interview, she also, once again, debunked rumors that she and Drake were a thing, insisting that she and the Canadian rapper “never even kissed, much less, for him to even get [her] pregnant.”
The new guy’s identity, however, will remain a secret. “Nobody, and when I say nobody, I mean nobody knows who I’m dating. I don’t care who y’all be seeing online, you don’t know who I’m dating, that’s a fact!” she revealed.
According to Shenseea, things are going pretty well with her new guy so far. “Yeah, I’m into somebody for sure,” she said. “It’s been going good, real cool dude.”
It appears they began going steady since working on her album and have yet to do anything major as a couple. “I’ve been working so hard, I’ve been so focused on my career. Actually, we were supposed to go away last weekend but it didn’t get to happen. I had studio, I had to just put it off and deal with [what was] priority, you know my music comes first. I will definitely take a vacation soon but now is album time,” she said.
Though Shenseea didn’t reveal the identity of her boyfriend, the Blessed singer did share that he’s a “confident” guy, who understands the nature of her career and that she couldn’t be happier.
Yee asked how the mystery guy felt about seeing her in the controversial toe-sucking photo and whether similar situations bothered him.
“No it doesn’t and I love that,” Shenseea said.
“He understands that, it doesn’t bother him at all and I love that because I cannot be with somebody who stops me from entertaining my fans. I’m an entertainer you feel me, so I have to be with a confident man, and [he] just know that “Yo, I be doing this online but you know at the end of the day it’s you and only you cause I’m no cheater.”
“So if you understand that, you just gotta support me and let me do what I do to make my money, to make my fans happy and do what I love and be happy doing what I love,” she said, including getting her toes sucked.
Shenseea and Yee’s conversation touched on the singles Body Count and Shen Ex Album, which opened up the discussion about past relationships where she admitted to previously dating two guys in the industry and even being cheated on. Shenseea also outlined the woes of celebrity dating and how celeb females like herself could get a bad rep from dating overall.
“I have been looking out and I’ve been seeing how they may classify females as hoes because they break up with this one, they break up with this one and they get with another one.”
“As a female, when you have so much going on for you, and you have your money, you have fame. You don’t know how to just peep out a regular guy and say, ‘he’s good for me.’ Because you don’t know if they want money, if they want fame, you don’t know if they trying to set you up because they really have nothing to lose,” she argued.
“You need to be with someone who also have something to lose and then even if that happens, if you’re with somebody who got a lot to lose and it doesn’t work out or if they abusing you, what should you do? Should you stay? To please the public?” she asked rhetorically.
Luckily for her, that hasn’t been her reality, and by intent, revealing she decided to stay single for a year to avoid these issues.
In the meantime, Shenseea’s debut album ALPHA is now available on all major streaming platforms. An album release party will be hosted in Miami this Sunday, March 13 at the Blackbird Ordinary.
