After weeks of promotion, A Reggae Valentine, the concert which would have been headlined by Dancehall star Dexta Daps in the Bahamas tomorrow, was denied approval by the country’s Ministry of Health.

In an official statement from the event’s promoter Clayvon Duncombe of Phluid Factory, he noted that ticket holders will receive a full refund.

“A Reggae Valentine’s concert featuring Dexta Daps that was scheduled for this weekend in Nassau and Freeport has been denied approval from MOH. It’s with great regret that we inform the public that the concert will not be held. All ticket holders will receive a full refund,” he announced via Instagram on Tuesday.

Attempts by DancehallMag to get another comment from Duncombe proved futile.

According to EyeWitness News, the promoters were seemingly persistent, as this was the second time the Government inflated the promoters’ bubble.

The news source also said that Minister of Health Dr. Michael Darville told the media that if a third was submitted, it was “very unlikely” it would be successful.

Darville noted that the disapproval is an attempt to curtail the fast riding coronavirus cases in the country.

“We’re in the middle of a pandemic,” the minister during a briefing on Tuesday.

“Our hospitals are still under tremendous strain and it is imperative for us to get our schools open fully.  The only source of control that we can execute at the ministry is large gatherings.”

“The science is clear that large gatherings…are high risk for community spread, and so we must protect the country…” he continued.

In November last year, the Call Me If singer, whose real name is Louis Grandison, announced a slew of UK tours for this month. At the time, he promised fans that his performances would compensate for the postponement.

“Dappanation UK!! Due to circumstances beyond the promoter’s control, the UK dates will now be staged in Feb 2022. My apologies for any inconvenience this may cause. Mi can’t wait fi come a UK, it nahh guh normal! Love and Love alone!” He said on IG at the time.

Dexta Daps continues to be in high demand for shows internationally, as promoters can guarantee a packed house if the singer is featured on the billing.

The cacophony of screaming female fans, the much sought-after singer’s sexually charged antics on stage, topped off with his vocal and overall performing prowess, are all typical and welcomed components of his shows.

The Owner singer has not commented on the cancellation of tomorrow’s would-be stint.
