The Time Bounty Killer Made Demarco Cry
What would you do if you were overlooked by one of your friends or colleagues after calling to them confidently in public? If you are anything like Dancehall singjay Demarco, you would probably cry.
The Fallen Soldiers entertainer confessed to DJ Kash during a podcast interview that veteran deejay Bounty Killer brought him to tears after ignoring his greeting at a Weddy Weddy Dance, a few years ago.
“…Me and di thugs dem a roll in, and wi spot Killa now an’ mi ah seh, ‘yow, mi general come in. We aguh link the general,” he recalled, referring to gathering his group of friends before making a step to the Grungzilla.
“So mi ah seh, wah gwaan General? Everything good? (While holding out his thumb)…” he added, noting that the Bullet Proof Skin deejay remained unmoved at his enthusiastic ‘hail’
“Den mi start hear some likkle chuckling from ova (the corner). Mi ah try tek weh miself, till mi hear some chuckling behind me, it sound like all my fren dem ah chuckle. Mi ah seh, yuh know seh, I’m out man.
“I left the party, bro. I left them, everybody. I’m in my car, yow eye water, nose naught…everything. Yow, Killa diss me dawg. How Killa fi diss me suh, dawg? Mi a bawl ah go home. Mi nah hail no man again dawg. Dawg, if mi hail no man again dawg, mi done wid life,” he lamented.
Demarco said the tears continued when he reached home that night. The Love My Life singjay said he learnt a very valuable lesson since that incident and has become strategic when greeting Killer.
“When mi see Killa now, mi nah hail Killa. You have to be strategic. Yuh don’t go hail him, but yuh just walk inna him way. Gwaan like yuh nuh see him then yuh hear him seh, ‘Yow Demarco. Mind dem mark yuh. A wah happen to yuh yute?” he joked, adding that they have never spoken about it.
Demarco and Bounty Killer have had a sturdy relationship over the years, regardless of that “mishap.”
In June 2020, Demarco paid ode to Bounty and Beenie Man following the much anticipated and highly successful Verzus showdown between the two, with the release of a single. The track, titled Homage, was produced by ‘Attomatic’ Records / Hemton Music.
