Dancehall artist Quada has confirmed splitting from Popcaan’s ‘Unruly Camp’.

Quada, who is now the CEO of his own music label Wellbad Entertainment, told Winford Williams in an Onstage TV interview over the weekend, that even though the exit was amicable, he has “leveled up” and now manages his own career.

“I just want to say first things first, big up and blessings, it’s always love and respect to Popcaan and Unruly Entertainment but I just want the world to know that I’m doing my own thing now. As I said, I am the CEO of my own company Wellbad Entertainment,” Quada began. “You know in life, everything is subjected to change but with Unruly Entertainment and with Popcaan, its all love and respect so big up Popcaan.”

The 24-year-old deejay added that this new path in music has also come with a transformation as can be seen with his latest track Di Vibes, a clean-cut tropical sounding tune which he premiered on the show.

Moving forward, fans of Quada can expect to hear quality music with a message that will elevate the culture, similar to how the greats like Bob Marley did before him, he said.

“I think it’s the message that we should be teaching the younger generation and not just every man a just come sing fi make a quick dolla, its throwing me off because that’s not music that I grew up on,” Quada said.

“Remember we used to go a dance and set up the box dem. We a listen Tenor Saw dem, Lieutenant Stitchie, Papa San, Lecturer all these artists … Buju Banton, Shabba Ranks all these top people – and within that music there was a message. From Bob Marley days coming up, there was a message, its teaching you that in the ghetto you can elevate, no matter the sadness that you’re going through now, you can be happy, you can make something of your life no matter the circumstances,” he added.

The Celebration singer implored his fellow artists to take the focus off “chapping” and join him in making music that will take Dancehall further.

“That’s the problem the elder artists are having now with the younger generation because they don’t see us doing much to elevate the culture more than just doing this normal music. Where is the message within the music? And that’s what Quada has to offer.”

“Me going further, the better version of me, you will always see the message, you will see clean visuals …” he said.

As for what he has in store on this renewed and transformative musical path, it starts with his new Lagikz Visualz-directed music video, Di Vibes. The new profanity-free track, which was produced by Blair Mercer will be the first of other “massive songs” leading up to his debut EP that he plans on launching next year on his birthday, September 1, or perhaps before in the summer of 2022.

Quada, whose real name is Shacquelle Clarke, first signed to Popcaan’s Unruly Entertainment record label back in 2018.  They have collaboration on We Don’t Play with Jafrass, Billions and the FIXTAPE track Have It with Skillibeng.

Though his murder trial looms over his head, he said he’s “innocent” and is focused on the future and being the best version of himself.
