Jaii Frais Hit With Multiple Charges After Big Wall Shooting

Jhaedee ‘Jaii Frais’ Richards has been hit with a battery of charges in the wake of the shooting incident at the Big Wall carnival party on Sunday that left three people nursing gunshot wounds.

The podcast host was formally charged with wounding with intent, shooting with intent, use of a weapon to commit a felony, and possession of a prohibited weapon.

The charges were formally laid by police detectives following a court order to the police to charge or release Richards by 6 p.m on Friday.

He is represented by attorneys Isat Buchanan and D’ondre Buchanan.

Jaii Frais’ legal team made an appearance in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court, where the police had been given the 6 p.m. deadline.

An application for bail will be made for Richards, who is yet to be given a date for his first appearance in court to answer to the charges.

Charges are still pending for the producer Jahvel “Jahvy Ambassador” Morrison. One of Morrison’s attorneys, Richard Lynch, made an application for habeas corpus in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court.

At 8:45 p.m., Morrison, who is also represented by King’s Counsel Peter Champagnie and Sayeed Bernard, was still locked in a question-and-answer session with investigators regarding his role in the Big Wall shooting.

Queries made to Champagnie were not returned as the session is still ongoing.

He was taken into police custody in relation to a shooting incident, which occurred at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre in St Andrew. Three people, including podcaster Jhaedee “Jaii Frais” Richards and a United States citizen.

One of the victims, who was a member of dancehall artiste 450’s entourage, known by the alias ‘Chum’, was critically wounded but survived the attack.
