Donavan Thomas aka Black Boi is a Dancehall DJ steadily making a name for himself. Starting out as a DJ for Romeich Entertainment, Black Boi made the transition to become Shenseea’s DJ. Since then he has toured the world with Shenseea playing her music for crowds as far as Europe, America, Dubai and most recently at Rolling Loud New York on Friday.

In this, his first-ever interview, Black Boi talks about his life on the road with the Blessed singer, his top five Dancehall artists, and even had some wisdom for up-and-coming DJs.

Black Boi, where are you from originally?

Kingston, Jamaica

How did you become a DJ?

I was fascinated with music since I was a child. I would always sing all genres of music and my family always encouraged me to join the entertainment industry.

JR: How did you become Shenseea’s DJ?

I was already working for Romeich Entertainment as a DJ for 2 yrs and it was only fitting that when Shenseea came on board for me to be her personal DJ as my vibe as a DJ fit her brand. From there we created a bond.
