Despite inclement weather conditions, Dancehall veteran Mavado, the Melody Gad Kranium and Blessed singer Shenseea all graced one of Hip Hop’s hottest stages over the weekend.  From the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, the 2021 staging of New York’s Hot 97 Summer Jam 2021 featured the Dancehall stars along with performances from DaBaby, Cardi B, Offset, H.E.R., Bobby Shmurda, Swizz Beatz and more.

Dancehall star Shenseea, who recently did a Crocodile Teeth freestyle on Hot 97 with DJ Funkmaster Flex, was hot and ready to perform at the over two decades annual event.

Bringing the heat as “Rubi Rose”, Shenseea appeared in a full red mesh bodysuit, covered by only a red corset, and complemented by her silver Shenyeng necklace and silver red bottoms. Performing Blessed, Sheng Yeng Anthem and even getting the crowd to say “Bumbocl—t” was the perfect addition of Dancehall and Caribbean flavor to the Hip Hop Concert.

Engaging her fans through her IG stories, Shenseea shared clips from her performance and crowd reactions. In one video shared to her Instagram story, Shenseea signed the famous Hot 97 Summer Jam Board, making her mark once more in the international space.  Also there supporting her, was her son Rajeiro and manager, Romeich Major.

Artist and radio personality, DJ Megan Ryte gave the crowd a few surprises as she brought on stage Mavado, and Gal Policy singer, Kranium. Mavado got the crowd raving to old school Dancehall, performing his 2007 hit single, Weh Dem A Do, and On The Go, a tribute to Olympic legend, Usain Bolt.

Meanwhile, Shenseea’s manager, Romeich, shared his reunion with the Gully Gad, who had migrated to Miami several years ago.

“Was great seeing @mavadogully it has been years since I saw the Gullygad big up enuh bredda another artist who represented #dancehall and #jamaica at #summerjam memba this money don’t change we, WE A MONEY CHANGER 😈,” he said.

No stranger to the Hot 97 Summer Jam stage, Kranium who lit up the stage in 2018 came back and performed his hit single Nobody Has To Know.

The 2015 single has recently hit a mega milestone on YouTube, reaching over 100 million views.

After a one-year hiatus due to the pandemic, a little rain never stopped supporters from enjoying the concert. With a tribute to the late Pop Smoke, surprise performance from the heavily pregnant Cardi B, crowd surfing Bobby Shmurda and a tons of Dancehall flavor, Hot 97’s Summer Jam made an all-rounded, historic comeback.
