After American singer Lizzo faced backlash from trolls over her recent music video Rumors, Dancehall deejay Popcaan sent her a special invite to the islands.

Lizzo had been teasing the single (which also features Cardi B) for a while and the striking video has racked up 19M since it debuted ten days ago. Sadly, it didn’t take long for social media trolls to attack the singer either, and she took to her Instagram Live in tears following the body shaming, racism, and other hurtful reactions.

“Sometimes I feel like the world just don’t love me back. It’s like, it doesn’t matter how much positive energy you put into the world. You’re still going to have people who have something mean to say about you,” Lizzo sobbed in an Instagram Live.

She continued, “I just feel like I’m seeing negativity directed towards me in the most weirdest way, like, people saying s–t about me that just doesn’t even make sense. I’m not making music for white people, I’m not making music for anybody. I’m a black woman making music. I make black music, period. Everyone is invited to a Lizzo show, to a Lizzo song, to this good energy. Everyone’s invited.”

On that note, the Unruly Boss stepped in among the many Lizzo supporters inviting the curvy singer to shake off the backlash with some sunshine.

The Everything Nice deejay posted a clip of Lizzo on his Instagram Stories with the caption “@lizzobeating don’t cry girl come to the islands”.

Another advocate for the Truth Hurts singer, Cardi B’s husband Offset, weighed in on the trolling. “Let these beautiful Black women be great. Stop judging and bringing out negative energy. We work hard to be entertainers for the world. Let us be,” he said, according to HipHopDX.

This isn’t Popcaan’s first time playing ambassador to US urban artists either. The Unruly Boss has been the ultimate Jamaican host and chaperone to the likes of Dave East, and Offset’s hip hop trio Migos in recent times.

Lizzo, 33, ended her tearful IG Live by suggesting that she was “Ok”, however, while Popcaan is actually off the island, working on a new album in the UK
