Tony Matterhorn’s Gun Seized After He Allegedly Threatened Bounty Killer On Instagram
Popular Dancehall selector Tony Matterhorn is being investigated by the Firearms Licensing Authority (FLA) after reports emerged that the Dutty Wine singer had made serious threats against fellow entertainer Bounty Killer on Instagram. The selector, whose real name is Duffton Anthony Taylor, also had his firearm seized by the FLA pending the results of the probe.
Over the last month, Matterhorn has been embroiled in a public dispute with Bounty Killer, but the two have been feuding for about two decades.
DancehallMag spoke to Oshin Levy, the corporate communications officer of the FLA, who said: “Yes, we are currently doing an investigation, and as the regulatory body regulating firearm usage, it is our duty to ensure that a licensed firearm holder is fit and proper to possess a firearm.”
Ms. Levy referred to Section 29 of the Firearms Act of Jamaica which regulates the ownership and use of firearms and ammunition.
“Section 29 speaks to the considerations of being granted a licence to carry a firearm, specifically temperament and mental fitness. As an entity, we are watching, and sending a message to holders, encouraging persons to be responsible, not only in terms of keeping and care of the firearm, but to be careful how you express yourself in the public space, as it may have implications. We are monitoring social media, and considering all reports,” she told DancehallMag.
“Once we receive a report, we will most likely check into the matter and ensure it is not something that is taken further. Once an investigation is done, and is complete, there will be a further decision based on what we unearthed and the outcome will be related to Mr. Taylor.”
Tony Matterhorn’s longstanding feud with Bounty Killer sparked the FLA investigation.
The escalation of hostilities between the two emerged when the veteran selector became incensed about claims Bounty Killer recently made on Fat Joe’s Instagram Live when they briefly glossed over Killer’s infamous feud with Matterhorn.
Bounty claimed he played a critical role in Matterhorn’s rise and suggested that Matterhorn had betrayed him almost 20 years ago.
Matterhorn has repeatedly downplayed Killer’s role in his rise as a selector and revealed that a woman was at the center of the brouhaha between the two, adding that the irony of it all was that he had not been sexually involved with the female in question.
“Tell the people dem why you an Matterhorn nuh bl–dcl–t gree, because of a gyal weh mi never f-ck,” he said on one IG Live.
The allegations are that Tony Matterhorn went on a wild rant on the platform, where he issued several threats against his former friend-turned-foe before the FLA stepped in.
Matterhorn has reportedly left the island.
