Dancehall stars Spice, Sean Paul, and Shaggy performed their hit song Go Down Deh on ABC’s Good Morning America (GMA) for their Summer Concert Series today.  Watch below.

Shaggy, on his third appearance on GMA, said the collaboration was a special opportunity for Dancehall. “This is epic, this is Dancehall, man. Both these guys, both Sean and Spice, are close friends, they’re old friends,” the It Wasn’t Me hitmaker said during the interview segment.

“They’re part of my genre and part of my culture and it’s an amazing opportunity to do this for the music and for the culture.”

“The spirit of Dancehall is just a fun, high energy type of music,” Spice said when asked about what the genre means to her. “Dancehall was actually birthed by Reggae but was increasing characterized by a faster pace riddim. You can identity the key elements in Dancehall by the Jamaican patois, so it’s just a fun high energy type of music, it has alot of bass drum.”

To kick off the weekend, the trio also performed a medley of their Dancehall hits over producer Dave Kelly’s Showtime Riddim (1997), starting with Shaggy’s Angel, Spice’s Frenz, and Sean Paul with Deport Them and Like Glue.

The entire performance was shot on location at the new cruise ship port in Port Royal, Jamaica by production outfit Phase 3 Productions.

Spice, Shaggy, and Sean Paul will next fly the Dancehall flag on Jimmy Kimmel Live! (June 15) and The Wendy Williams Show (June 18), where Go Down Deh is again expected to take center stage.

The summer anthem has been trending in Jamaica for 5 consecutive weeks with over 12 million views on its music video, which was directed by Jay Will.

Go Down Deh will appear on Spice’s debut album, TEN, slated for release on July 30 via VP Records. TEN includes production from Supa Dups (Bruno Mars, Drake, Eminem), Stephen McGregor (Sean Paul, Burna Boy, Drake), and was executive produced by Shaggy.
