Fast-rising American rapper Trippie Redd was in Jamaica enjoying vacation with his crew.

According to a photo and video making the rounds on Instagram yesterday, Wednesday, April 7, the rapper is in Montego Bay. He was spotted after he stopped by a well-known spot, the Father Bull’ Restaurant, in Greenwood, St. James. The restaurant is known for its fiery jerk chicken and is owned by comedian Ramone Robinson.

Trippie Redd, whose real name is Micheal Lamar White IV, looks like he was also trying to adjust to the heat as he appeared with no shirt on in the posts.

While at the restaurant he excitedly said: “Yeah we out here I had to come get some jerk from my boy’s spot. You know how it’s going down.”

He joins a long list of American celebrities and rappers who choose Jamaica as their island of solace.

Most recently New York rapper Lil Tjay visited the island where he linked up with Shenseea.  In February, it was YK Osiris for a Valantine’s Day weekend getaway.

Redd could be looking to gather some inspiration for new music like Lil Tjay, who just dropped his sophomore album with Columbia Records, called Destined 2 Win. On that album, he sampled Aidonia’s 2016 song Better.

Trippie Redd’s rise to fame began with his debut mixtape A Love Letter to You in 2017. The lead single from the album, Love Scars shot him into the limelight.

He followed up that track with some successful singles like Dark Knight Dummo featuring Travis Scott and Taking a Walk — all of which charted on the the Billboard 100.

His third studio album Pegasus which he dropped in 2020 reached number two on the Billboard 200. While it looks like he’s just in Jamaica to soak up the sun it wouldn’t be surprising if he’s planning to use some Jamaican sounds to create some new music as well.
