Dancehall artist Masicka has had fans eagerly awaiting his debut album, after dropping several hints this year.  The Portmore native released Corner, a Dunw3ll-produced ode to friendships earlier this month featuring Reggae crooner Tarrus Riley, and the track shows a new depth to his music that may permeate the upcoming album, which he appears to have dubbed 4.3.8.

Corner‘s deeply emotive video already has well over a million views on YouTube and he promoted the release with one of the first hints about the project’s impending release, writing in an Instagram post, “Album a fawud. 1syde #438 #deeperthanmuisc.”

The Top Form singer has also shared what could be an album cover, with the caption “As God As Me Witness.”

We also know that the Gifted artist has been working overtime since completing his own studio last year.  In September 2020, he showed off the construction of the structure on Instagram and by November, he shared in a Tweet that the “studio [was] almost complete”.

“20 song a day,” he added.

Masicka explained his motivation behind constructing his own facility. “You haffi ah mek decisions fi the yute dem rich too. Feel like we ah wutless boy? Smoke out and drink out we money and gyal out we money like some clown…ah me yute dem me say yute, yeah ah mi family straight up..”

While it may be a mixed bag of tracks going from emotional cuts to more fun, free-flowing bangers, one thing is for sure and that’s the fact that it’s going to be a packed album.

He teased one such banger in an Instagram video on January 17, where he wrote in the caption, “How e grung look”?

“Some sick features pon the album,” he later teased in another Tweet on February 17.

The Taurus Riley collab, Corner, is a likely pick for 4.3.8. as well as I Wish, a gritty track that he dropped about three months ago. In addition, one year ago, he told the Jamaica Star that he had a collab with a “huge hip hop artiste as well that we are keeping under wraps for now.”

The newspaper said, at the time, that his upcoming album would have 14 to 16 tracks.

Masicka is best known for the singles They Don’t KnowStay StrongImage, and Leader with Dexta Daps.  His last project was the 2018 EP, Start From The Grung.
