Sean Paul has proven he has a good ear for multi-platinum bangers, but fans can’t seem to get enough of his catchphrases either. Very few could say they’ve never heard of ‘di gyal dem Schillaci’, and the Grammy Winner has even cleared up some of his commonly misheard bars.  Recently, the Get Busy deejay offered a breakdown of his most popular written slang, his three-letter mantra, “RRR”.

“Alright so RRR!!!, what means RRR? Can you figure? So nuff people they don’t understand why I keep writing this ‘RRR’. Well ‘RRR’ is the lion from the lionheart talking, but also what it means is Real Recognize Real so when I’m talking, I’m talking Real, and I hope you understand me back, yuh understand. Real Recognize Real.. RRR!!!,” Sean Paul said, ending a video uploaded to social media with a playful roar.

Keeping it real has brought many payoffs for the enduring hitmaker, whose international appeal has secured neverending chart contributions, from pop anthems like Sia’s Cheap Thrills to Dancehall hits like the Dumplin Remix.

He was also seen flexing on the gram with the twenty releases he managed to make last year in spite of global chaos. The list which he artfully dubbed his ‘2020 of Plenty Plenty’ included Calling On Me with Tove Lo as well as Born Gyallis on the Aircraft Riddim.

He continues to rep the flag on the remix of Steve Aoki & Willy Williams’ new track, Mambo, which debuted on February 1. The “melting pot of Latin Dance sounds” calls on an all-star cast of cultural icons, and is already causing a stir as the next Tik-Tok dance craze.

Sean Paul is also among Jamaican acts like Skillibeng and Moyann with active social media challenges geared towards reaching their quarantined fans.

His #ScorchaChallenge is based on his new Chimney Records track of the same name, and runs until February 14 with a US$100 grand prize.
