Reggae singer Alaine is the latest Jamaican artist to launch a YouTube channel.

Alaine made the disclosure on her Instagram noting that she had teamed up with her mother Myrna Laughton, for the content project which officially launched on Saturday (January 31).

To promote the new channel, the singer shared a throwback photo of herself and her mom performing at the Jamaica Pegasus.

“My mama has always been the light of any room she walks into. This is a pic of us performing at The Pegasus Hotel, ‘long time ago in Bethlehem’ (well, actually in Kingston),” said Alaine in her caption for the photo.

“Ketch di skank nuh! Click the link in my bio to Subscribe (PRESCRIBE) to our brand new YouTube channel, Mama & Me. There’s never a dull moment with her. She’s such a huge blessing,” she added.

Alaine shared that part of her reason for starting the channel is to brighten people’s day and give them a reason to give thanks.

“Our intention is to brighten your day and give you a reason to give thanks and smile,” said Alaine.

Mama & Me is structured as a culinary-based show, focusing largely on Alaine and her mom showing off their skills in the kitchen while sharing recipes.

Alaine admits in the first episode, “Chicken B***y Outta Door?” that she is a vegan, nonetheless, the duo demonstrates how to prepare callaloo, mackerel and food (boiled bananas, and sweet potatoes).

However, the show while centered on cooking also highlights other aspects of the singer and her mom’s life, as Alaine is seen in episode two, “Porridge and Pigtails” taking her dogs to be groomed.

The 41-year-old artiste who is best known for hits such as No Ordinary Love, Sincerely, and Rise In Love was baptized in 2018 and has been repositioning herself as a gospel singer.
