Dancehall artiste Ishawna has received the COVID-19 vaccine.

The entertainer made the announcement on Instagram, where she showed a slip of her medical record in her story on Monday (January 18).

On the slip, the artiste’s first and last name is displayed along with a message encouraging individuals not to discard the small strip of paper, which serves as a record and potentially an indicator of when to get the second dose.

“Please keep this record card, which includes medical information about the vaccine that you have received,” reads the slip of paper that is perched on Ishawna’s leg in the boomerang-style post.

To date, Ishawna is one of the first Jamaican musicians to get the jab, which some in the industry are apprehensive about.

Reggae artist, Tony Rebel, has publicly declared that he will not be taking the vaccine, citing concerns about the speed with which it was manufactured.

Others have said that they are taking a “wait and see” approach, noting with concerns deaths associated with the vaccine.

Officials in Norway last week said that the COVID-19 vaccines may be too risky for some elders, following the death of 23 individuals shortly after receiving their first dose of the shot.

According to the officials, 23 elderly citizens died shortly after receiving the Pfizer jab, with autopsies performed on 13 of the deceased pointing to common side effects of the vaccine, which may have resulted in severe reactions for elderly people.

While the United States has approved two vaccines, it is unclear which of the approved shots Ishawna received.
